Pretty Good - Edit
I have been to this place twice. The first time I had the scrambled tofu and the second time I had the ‘Grown Cheeseburger’. The scrambled tofu was delicious but in my opinion the portion size was too small for the price. The cheeseburger was a little average in tastes. The patty was a little too dry. Perhaps a nice sauce would have been complimentary. The bread (bun) was very delicious. The cheeseburger was served with fried chips. As a meal it was very filling and the portion size was good.

High quality vegan comfort food - Edit

Read moreGrown is a vegan restaurant that puts an emphasis on sustainability. Menu uses seasonal ingredients that are sourced locally as much as possible and food waste are being composted. And of course, the food is great.
The menu may seem a bit simple at first, but Grown puts their own twist on the dishes. The french toast uses seasonal nectarine with housemade vanilla ice cream. Instead of regular french toast, they put sugar on top and torch it to make it crispy like a creme brulee. The contrast between soft cakey toast with crispy sugar top, mixed with the creamy ice cream, is delicious. The hash brown is also great with a vibrant and flavorful mix of veggies.
Pros: All vegan, Well made and well presented food, Beautiful cafe

Good coffee, good food - Edit
Cool little spot. I had the French toast based on reviews. It was good but not what I expected from French toast. The toast was thick and had a hard shell on the top (like crème brûlée). It was still tasty but just know it might not be the French toast you expect.

Food is amazing, coffee and tea was spot on, has toilets, lots of room to sit.
Read moreCoffee was so good I had a second, it came out at the perfect drinking temperature, soy milk was wonderful and creamy.
Chai tea was brewed and served with enough milk to finish the pot, it was lovely and smokey.
The Homemade Hash Brown- was a great sized meal. The hash brown was an inch thick and a circle as big as a standard bread bun. The outside texture was crunchy while the inside texture was soft, smooth and importantly cooked all the way through. All of the sides where delicious and paired well with the hash brown.
Grilled Tempa Toasty - also a great sized meal, it came on a perfectly toasted and fresh Turkish bread. The filling was delicious, the grilled tempa had a great texture and flavour and the homemade tomato sauce tied all of the ingredients together.
Overall very pleased, keep up the delicious work.
Pros: All plant based menu, Locally sourced ingredients , Compost scrapes with local farmers

Scrambled tofu - Edit
We had the marmite and Avo, and scrambled tofu. Food was disappointing.
Read moreThe tofu was a very wet and bland. It needed seasoning it also was meant to have mushrooms, I got 1 tiny mushroom mixed in. Hash brown was the highlight.
We liked the layout but the staff didn’t seem happy. Lacked atmosphere!

Amazing - Edit
Came here for a late lunch so it was pretty quiet. Service was prompt and staff were obliging. Old mate said her beetroot latte was one of the nicest she’s had and my iced long black was ace too.
Read moreI had the tofu scramble, and not only was the cashew cheese and the gorgeous bread delicious, the woodland mushrooms and onion mixed in with the tofu scramble gave it that extra hit of flavour to push it over the edge.
Old mate had the avo on toast with their house-made vegemite, and said the vegemite was yum, and it was just an all round classic, done very well.
Looking forward to returning and trying the dinner menu!
Pros: Fully vegan, relatively cheap lunch menu, Cute decor, Nearby toilets
Cons: Limited seating if busy

I went back the next day - Edit
Grown was the highlight of my Brisbane trip. We went fro brunch - I had the hash breaky with a hash brown, black beans, avocado and tomato. It was very tasty and the black beans were incredibly seasoned. Fiancé had the vegan French toast. We went back the next day and I was initially disappointed to find they were running an all day Mexican special as I wanted to get the same breakfast again. However, nachos for breakfast were actually an awesome idea. Everything was incredibly fresh - I suspect the corn chips were even made in house.

Affordable & refreshingly unique vegan fare - Edit
Contrary to other reviews, I find the food at grown very reasonable when considering comparable meals at other venues. Locally sourced, and lovingly prepared, the food is fresh, flavourful and a point of difference to the other available vegan options in Brisbane. Visitor parking underneath the building makes it easy to access. The staff are so friendly and attentive without being intrusive.

Glam Cafe Fare - Edit
Situated beneath a block of units, this small fancy cafe serves veganised cafe fare with decent coffee. I had the Big Hash Brekkie ($18): a massive rosti/Hash brown topped with slow roasted tomatoes on a bed of homemade ‘baked beans’, greens (baby spinach and maybe pea sprouts), avocado and fermented or pickled red cabbage and zucchini. Would’ve preferred far more of the veg, and the rosti was so greasy I felt quite queasy for some time afterwards.
Read moreWhile the dishes - like the rest of Brisvegan eateries - are beautifully presented, I guess standard Western cafe fare ain’t really my bag, otherwise it might’ve attracted five stars from me. But would’ve preferred to spend my moola and stomach space on one of the more exotic veggeries that abound around here.
Pros: next to the river, attentive service, good coffee, beautiful presentation
Cons: a tad steep, not overly yummy unless you dig Western cafe fare, slightly clinical environment

Creative and local vegan food - Edit
Had a delicious dinner at Grown. The food is unique and clearly a lot of effort is put into it's creation. They source a lot of food locally which is a great aspect to support. The food is expensive(for me!), for dinner at least, but you get what you pay for and is great for something special. Staff were friendly and informative too and i love that they and brining another level of vegan food to West end.

The hash brown is fantastic but not too keen on the tofu at all. The it's very creamy and we found it sickly with the cheese.

Amazing! - Edit
My partner and I have been here twice and been blown away each time. The service is great, the chef came out a couple of times to run through the dish and the idea behind putting it together. The food is amazing, some of the best we’ve had in Brisbane, not just vegan food but food in general. Nice selection of drinks as well. Have only been for dinner but will be back for brunch and the degustation sometime for sure!
