Worth it

A bit of a drive from where I live but worth it every time. The sour cream on the Texas fries is my favorite and I don’t even like sour cream! They staff so super friendly and I love loving hut for this reason.

So glad their in Mira Mesa!!

I am so happy this place is in Mira Mesa as there is no other true vegan options in that area.

I've gotten a few different plates, but I always feel I could have made the meal at home and much better. Food is always under cooked (ive been over a handful of times and always have to request that they cook my veggies well or else it tastes like they were taken out of the fridge and microwaved a few minutes) I go here when I can't imagine cooking after a very long day. The deserts are delicious** and the people that work there are very kind.

Pros: in mira mesa, deserts, staff

Great vegan restaurant in area (the ONLY one!)

update (2018): Now that I've managed to go there every few weeks for several years, I can write that the service is consistently great! They usually greet you at the door (in a friendly, non-intimidating way), and their Loving Hut (Android & iPhone) app makes it really easy to order (take out only now), including bonus points. (You DO have to order carefully, tho, for really healthy meals! not many "green" dishes.)

Focus is on vegan versions of "comfort food." But still a VERY nice choice in neighborhood for veg-oriented & non-veg-oriented alike (though some do not like the meat analogues & heavy sauces in some dishes).

Pros: Vegan, many menu items, great service

Cons: Not Organic (I need to verify), closed early evenings, turn into parking lot awkward; parking limited

By Far the Best Loving Hut

Been to huts across the US and Europe - this is one of the best. Great selection on menu, and food you get looks just like menu pics. Big portions, not too hot, and veggies crisp. Definitely going to be back here again...soon!

Pros: Lots of vegan options. , Very creative and tasty options. , Big portions and reasonable prices.

Cons: Want to buy everything on the menu at once.

AhhhhhMazZing!!!!

From the service to the menus to the food everything was so good that I kept asking myself β€œis this real life?!?!” The food came out fast and fresh, My mouth still waters when I think about the desert! My fiancΓ© and I came here for lunch on our way back to apple valley from sandiego and it was a little out of the way but I had been wanting to try it and boy was it worth hr detour. The Texas fries and buffalo strips are an appetizer must and we will be coming back for more of their shrimp fried rice and fish tacos! The green tea ice cream and red velvet brownie complemented each other! If you see one of these amazing restaurants don’t miss the opportunity to experience the goodness that this place has to offer. Im so excited about this place that I’m taking a few of my friends out to this place in a few weeks.

Pros: Fast friendly service , Food allergen friendly , Diverse menu

Cons: None!!!!

Just been here once. Had a burrito, it was good. Can’t give more stars just because of the hours of the location. Drove here on a Saturday, happy cow stated they opened at 11 got there and they had change the hour from11 to 12!
Have driven here about 5 times and only been able to eat here once because of the hours of the location.
Overall the food was good the only time i was lucky enough for it to be open.

Absolutely FAVORITE restaurant in the San Diego area!

I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place, yet. Loving Hut - Mira Mesa has become my absolute favorite restaurant in all of San Diego and quite possibly the entire country.

For starters, my favorites are their Crispy Rolls and Special Rolls (with the Summer Rolls' sauce--trust me, it's amazing). I'm not a big fan of their very-popular Texas Fries, but even as a carnist I never liked huge amounts of tasteless, boring sour cream and excessive hunks of chive. Their Epic Ramen is aptly named and my FAVORITE dish. (I feel like it's better than Ramen Hood's ramen.) You're served a very large bowl filled with bouncy, delectable spinach noodles, hearty slices of seitan, crisp sweet corn, delicate baby greens, and never-overripe- avocado slices steeped in a soothing and so-satisfying miso broth, topped off with a dash of bright red chili threads for garnish. Although they're inferior to the ramen, I've tried many other dishes and loved them.

Other recommendations:
-Pepper Jack Sandwich
-Amazing Chow (excellent as cold the next day--seriously, try it)
-BBQ Noodle (it has Crispy Rolls!!!)

The restaurant itself is small (I hope the owners move to a larger building soon, but not too far from it's current location!) but really nice and clean, and during daylight it gives a light and airy vibe thanks to the large and numerous windows. The decor is pretty and a little eclectic. I like how they have various books and cookbooks available on the walls above the booths on the windowless wall.

And I can't say enough about the waitstaff. Everyone is so wonderful and friendly, some are really funny, and Hannah takes the cake. She always recognizes us when we come in, stops to chat with us, and she's just amazing. I look forward to seeing her every time we go! She's the kind of person who makes you feel like you could be best friends if you both actually had time for social lives. :P

If you haven't been to this location, definitely go. A word of caution and some advice: it gets crowded and *loud*, and if you want to avoid that don't come at dinnertime; lunch is a safer option. Always make a reservation, even if you're fifteen minutes out, as there's usually a line.

Pros: amazing food, great staff, huge portions

Cons: small and busy, usually crowded and noisy

There is a reason Loving Hut's Texas Fries are so popular...

According to the internet, Texas Fries are a thing that people who eat at places like Chili's know. The dish can be summarize as cheese fries. Sour cream could be an ingredient, but more often the cheese sheet is punctured with bacon. At Loving Hut Mira Mesa the Texas Fries ($8.50) are tossed with white onions, scallions, jalapeΓ±os, spice powder, and a minuscule sprinkling of vegan cheddar under a huge glob of what the kitchen is calling sour cream.

It's a looming--and sometimes legal--question about how we adapt words so heavily associated with animal dairy to the vegan alternatives. So while I personally cannot tell anyone what is or isn't vegan sour creme--to my taste , this is mayo. I'll do the glob the service of calling it aioli... and aioli and fries.... do you see where I am going here? This is really a pommes frites dish. As a beloved world dish, I'm not surprised that this is the menu favorite at Loving Hut Mira Mesa even if (I think) the dish is mistitled.

Pros: generous portions, strong dessert selection

Cons: there can be a wait at times

Must try the Spicy Cha Cha or Cali Burrito, it taste's like actual shrimp and and carne asada burrito. Thank me later.

I eat here so often and I love it even though mostly everything is soy. They also have gluten-free options.

Pros: everything Vegan, everything organic, gluten free option

Cons: mostly Soy product

Vegan, Non-GMO, MSG-free, and a Discount!

I like that they publish coupons in the Get1Free book and every once in awhile they offer a Groupon deal. I'm usually not fast enough to get one because they sell out so fast before I even know that they are available, but finally I scored! Even better, I got an extra $5 off because I purchased a Groupon gift code through https://shopseashells.com. You, too, can get $5; just use my Referral Code: PEW1Ny+r

Pros: Everything's VEGAN, Non-GMO, MSG-free!, Groupon deals and Get1Free coupons!, The only vegan restaurant for miles!

Cons: Too small and gets too crowded due to popularity., Parking lot is too small!, Closed 1 day of the week (but they change the day)

Love Loving Hut

This is the best looking Loving Hut location that I visited, but that is eclipsed by the food and service. We enjoyed Lettuce Cups and Crispy Chow Mein. The Pho was less spectacular but still good! Service was attentive and friendly.

Pros: Good food, Friendly service

Love Loving Hut!

I've been to a few Loving Huts, and this location was our "usual" spot when we lived in the area. I haven't been able to find my favorite Heavenly Salad at any other locations. It's been a while since I've been to this one, I hope they still have it. The won ton soup was a favorite, and the desserts are amazing!

Pros: all vegan, good prices, clean

Wonderful food and service

Our family loves this place, but admittedly not on the first try. We had to explore the menu a bit before we found the outstanding dishes. Texas Fries are awesome! Spicy Udon Noodle Soup is terrific. Spicy Cha Cha is great. Clay Pot with Eggplant is delicious. Burritos, California and Breakfast are also great. The burgers are great, too. If you have the patty melt, tell them to put it on the rye bread instead of a bun, which is really silly. Start with these and you will love this place, too.

My absolute favorite Vegan Restaurant

I've lost count on how many times I've eaten here. This is the place that introduced veganism to me four years ago when I was a vegetarian and boy did it get the ball rolling. I've brought so many non-vegs with me to try this place out and not one of them has disliked it. Out of all the vegan places I've tried in San Diego all the way up to LA, Loving Hut Mira Mesa will always be my home. Although I haven't tried EVERYTHING on the menu yet, everything I have tried has been amazing. It's across the way from the Edward's theatre in Mira Mesa and is the perfect place to go before or after catching a film. Also has very kid-friendly options including fries, tater tots, chicken tenders and much more! You HAVE to check this place out and when you do, you MUST order the Texas Fries, it's what this location is famous for. I always order them without jalapenos but to each his own! Enjoy!

Pros: So many options!, everything is delicious!, cheap!

Cons: No cons whatsoever

This is our goto place

We live less than 10 minutes away and get take out at least twice a week. When my wife broke her leg and didn't cook we were going 3-4 times a week and never ran out of great meals. Fish tacos are the best, better than Veggie Grill or Native Foods. We used to lament the fact that there was no good vegan food near us, now we are thankful that we have the best in San Diego.

Pros: Great food, Owners are great, Wait staff is helpful

Vegan options abound

We enjoyed our meal here, although healthy and organic is not the focus for sure! It is a fun and peaceful restaurant for a meal focused on fun and flavor rather than healthy eating. Fake meat, non organic soy dominates the menu.

Pros: variety, service was helpful, clean

Cons: non-organic soy only offered , fake meat is focus

Excellent!

We ate here while visiting from out of town and it was excellent. We got an eggplant tofu dish, healthy fried rice, lemon grass veggie meat type dish, and some chef's special rolls. Everything was delicious and even our toddler enjoyed the fried rice.

Tasty food and uplifting dining experience

This restaurant has delicious food - for both seasoned vegans as well as people just testing the waters -- and also has the most cheerful and friendly staff which really increases the positive experience of dining. The greens are fresh, and I'm told that a lot of the produce is organic, which is amazing, considering the reasonable prices. And the tofu is also organic, which is great to know.
Creative and appealing menu, and a philosophy of compassion for all life and environmental sustainability, which makes going there and buying dinner practically a tax-deductible donation to a worthy cause!

Pros: innovative menu, Organic ingredients, high ethical foundation
