We liked the laid back ambiente and nice waitress. We had a mixed starters plate. It wasn't bad but nothing really delicious either. The pita was stone hard. The price of 9€ seemed pretty pricey.

Overall a nice place with what seems to be nice food. I think we just didn't have the luck on our side today, since the chef was out so we had to come back in an hour. The restaurant only had one option available from the menu and it did take quite some time to make some pasta pesto. I would although love to give the place a second chance to try something else from the menu!

Mad Irie's was recommended to us when we've met other vegan travelers in Heraklion and we were glad to have followed their advice. The burger was massive and really something different than the standard vegan burger. The owner made sure to create a fantastic experience by adding a lot of fresh and uncommon incredients. In addition she was so kind and nice. Hope we can be back :)

The very best vegan place in the south of Crete - Edit
We found the Mad Irie on a Sunday, when they have live music for hours and a ten 10€ free delicious vegan and healthy buffet with many many good tasty choices.

Incredible burgers. I've had plenty of vegan burgers of various types, but this was something else. Crispy, with aubergine (I think), and every type of salad and relish inside. Delicious, inexpensive, and a lovely little restaurant with friendly people running it as well. Couldn't recommend it more!

Finally a vegetarian restaurant in Matala with vegan choices. The vegan burger is tasty and has a satisfying size. The patty is made with lentils. I liked that besides the patty, they're filling the burger with a good amount of fresh vegetables like beetroot and self-made vegan mayonnaise. The owners are super friendly and the store offers -next to the food- clothes and accessories.

Place that feels like home from the first moment! Relaxed atmosphere, delicious food and lovely service. Sunday evening buffet is a MUST! We ate there couple of times, vegan burger is the best ever, our daughter loved spaghetti with fresh cherry tomatoes and buffet is rich with great variety of food, hard to choose the favourite one-maybe mushrooms... or spinach dish... or spicy aubergines... or curry potatoes... or....
