Great daily menu, scones and most desserts - Edit
Still one of my favourite haunts, but sadly it's a pale shadow of what it was like a decade ago. The a la carte selection shrunk to a small fraction of its old self, with all my favourite picks gone, and what is left is quite expensive. Nowadays I only visit for the daily offer (which costs 2/3 the price), pizzas and the confectionery counter.
Read moreThe food tastes really good though and the staff are very nice. I highly recommend it to people who haven't visited yet, I was just spoiled by its 2013 state 🥲
(Small note about desserts due to character limit on the pros/cons section: most of their desserts are great, but they use(d) xylitol instead of sugar in the gateaus, which made them taste weird and plastic-like, so avoid those. Haven't tried them in a few years, so maybe they switched to sugar since, but I'd stick to the other kind of desserts.)
Pros: "pogácsa" scones are amazing, pizzas are great, if pricy, the non-gateau desserts are great
Cons: a la carte menu is quite expensive nowadays, avoid gateaus (see note above)

Lots of cake options, although the two we tried (tiramisu and raspberry Mille feuille) were not that good.
Staff were fine.
Pricing very average, but cheap in general.

Decent dinner but unreal desserts - Edit
The share platter for two was super filling, generous portion size and very tasty. The goulash was yummy, but I wish it had some of the seitan in it to mimic traditional goulash. Caesar Salad was tasty.

Delicious food, great atmosphere & friendly staff - Edit
Went in at 7:30 on. Friday night and plenty of tables available even though I had made a reservation.
Read moreOrdered the zuchinni with quinoa and brown rice risotto. Even though it feel apart a bit this worked perfectly for mixing in the delicious sauce that surrounded it.
Also ordered a small ginger lemonade that was not so small. It came just the way I prefer without ice and in between room temperature and slightly chilled.
The only knock would be the dessert but it may have been my choice. The case was stocked full of goodies but I went with a raw cake. It was decent and did the job but suppose they set the bar high and I was anticipating more.
I will definitely go back as I want to try the raw lasagna.
Pros: Friendly staff, fresh ingredients , great prices

itt tényleg sütt a napfény! - Edit
the restaurant is called sunlight in hungarian, and it really is a ray of sunshine. so good that we went twice on our trip! it's a small little hide-y hole that is behind the main square, but it lights up that shady spot!
Read morereally delicious food, and such a selection! great service as well.
the first time we got the platter for two, so my husband and i could share many classic hungarian items together! we also got a pad thai which was delicious!
the second time, i had a sour cherry soup (popular hungarian dish, hard to find vegan!) and a gyro plate.
we got some delicious icecream and an isler on the way out!

Great hungarian food - Edit
We shared the platter and we really liked it, they also have hungarian soups which were very reasonable priced. We were full after that but we had to have one of their dessert as they looked amazing. Very good price for all we had.

Nice restaurant with good food - Edit
The food was good, but not very well spiced. They could also use more herbs. This seems to be a general thing in (vegan) restaurants in Hungary or we have just been unlucky so far. I had the goulash, which was nice and my partner had fried zucchini with polenta, which was also ok.
Read moreFor such a high rated vegan restaurant I would expect much less soy as a substitute, it is used in most of the dishes as well as gluten (I guess most is wheat flour). From a health perspective both are not really recommendable. But in the menu it is clearly marked, which I really liked.
They also offer lots of cakes and ice cream, I had vanilla and pistachio, both were indeed too sweet for my taste.
The staff were friendly and we didn't have to wait for a long time (which could also be a bad sign in terms of food quality...)
I guess I would definitely give it another try during a next visit in Budapest
Pros: allergens and substitutes are clearly marked, great variety of desserts, nice outside seating, but only 4 tables
Cons: spices and herbs were missing, two much soy and wheat flour in the menu, not many vegetables on the menu

Lovely place and good food - Edit
We tried a falafel platter and some cabbage roulade. Both very good and lots of cakes and ice cream to choose from for desert. Sometimes a long wait as it’s very busy and there’s few staff but otherwise the service is great. I would love to see a larger selection of Hungarian dishes on the menu.

One of the few places to find some classic hungarian dishes veganized. We had the platter for 2, which was alright, but we were a little disappointed because the food wasn’t that warm and didn’t really feel fresh. I had also had better vegan gyros before, the other meat alternatives weren’t exceptional as well. The fried cheese was really good though. Maybe we just didn’t choose the right dish, because this didn’t really live up to our expectations. We might come again and try something different.

Great to try traditional Hungarian flavors - Edit
Napfényes was one of the first vegan restaurants in Hungary, and it’s a great place to try some local and traditional flavours in cruelty-free version. It is also one of the V-Label certified vegan restaurants. There’s a daily offer on weekdays, but the á la carte menu also has great soups, salads, mains, pizzas, and desserts. My favourite is the vegetable soup with semolina dumplings and plant based cheese fried in breadcrumbs with rizibizi (rice with peas). Try the sweet cottage cheese dumplings as well! The interior has more of a classic restaurant feeling. Staff is really nice.

Delicious Stuffed Cabbage - Edit
We had two delicious drinks - strawberry lemonade cocktail (non-alcoholic) and a ginger lemonade. My husband had the falafel platter and I had the stuffed cabbage. It was really good to have something Hungarian. The sausage and fake steak were the best I’ve had. My husband had a cake for pudding which he said was absolutely delicious. Very good overall.
