My 1st Donair - Edit
I’m not from Canada, so I was not familiar with Donair. When in Rome! When I first got it, I thought it looked small, but as I was eating it… It was stuffed with seitan  and it lasted a long time. Really enjoyed the coconut sauce with that little kick of sweetness, and the seitan had great spice flavoring.

Read moreI am amazed by the creativity and the preparation that goes into these meals. They turn all of our childhood favourite meals into better veganized versions. It is the best! If you are in Halifax, you must go!
Some of my favourite products of theirs include: their vegan maple bacun, their mac and cheeze, "chicken" cutlets, all the cheezes they make in house, etc. One of the best meals I have eaten from RFM was their unchicken and waffles.
I wish this was a fanchise and that their products were available elsewhere in Canada.

Our experience was mixed. We had the donair and a burger with curly fries. The fries were great, burger average, and the donair not great. The latter was literally fake meat and bread, hardly any veggies or sauce. While the meat tasted good in small portions, I really couldn't finish such an unbalanced dish.

absolutely LOVED my visit to Real Fake Meets! we came during Burger Week, and had the most incredible burger with a fried Mac & cheese patty, seitan patty, cheese & a jalapeño popper on top, all miraculously vegan! I also tried their dill havarti cheese which was delightful, and their ham & cheese wrap which was giant & super filling! had to go back later to try out their Cesar salad, and I was not disappointed! came with a wonderful dressing, bacon bits, croutons & a nooch topping! really couldn’t recommend enough!

I truly appreciate their wide variety of meat substitutes however the burger I got was uninspired, too salty, and kind of bland. I think they went too far in the fake meat category and neglected to incorporate the equally important fresh vegetables.

When ever we are in the area we look forward to eating at RFM. Not only do we get delicious lunch but also take home vegan cheeses, meats, and frozen meals. Carrot Lox and grilled vegan cheese with bac’n are my favorites. Boursin cream cheese is to die for.

Chef Lauren is a vegan genius! I’ve been a fan of her cooking for years— everything I’ve eaten of hers has been delicious! The donair is my favourite meal on their regular menu, but they have great weekly specials here that have never disappointed! Definitely grab a hot meal while you’re here, and get some of their prepared foods from the refrigerated cases to take home too.

What a delight to find this hidden gem. The menu options are varied and interesting, making you want to try everything. The recipes are definitely created by a real pro. Complex flavors that tantalize your palate, making you want to come back again and again. The grilled cheese was amazing, donair way better than the "real thing", and the burrito special was beyond compare! Last but not least, the oreo cookie ice cream sandwich was heavenly, and I should mention the coffee is superb. The only problem is its popularity, making it sometimes hard to find a seat. Hopefully, they will expand and continue to thrive in Halifax.

The food at Real Fake Meats was really good and the options plentiful. It's really nice to have a tasty vegan Halifax donair in Halifax. The only bummer is that there's only a small counter for eating at, so it's definitely a better spot for grabbing a quick lunch than for dinner.

This is the best vegan comfort food I ever tasted. I only wish I had more time in Halifax to keep coming back. Staff are super friendly. Pro tip, get the vegan poutine and vegan grilled cheese with bacon and then mop up the vegan gravy with the sandwich afterwards. Taste bud heaven

Popcorn Chick'n Poutine was on special the first time I visited, and it was great: thin fries and popcorn chick'n covered in gravy, cheeze cubes and green onions. The small size was plenty for me! I bought dill havarti cheeze artichoke dip and an Oreo bar to take away. The Oreo bar was scrumptious. Next time, I had the famous Halifax donair, vegan of course, stuffed with sliced (real fake) meat, chopped tomatoes and onions. And a good chocolaty cupcake. Good place for vegan “comfort food.”
