Customer service issue, Good food though
Terrible experience with customer service and I am vegan! A lady there named Christina was incredibly unprofessional. I was there 4 months before this and had a lovely experience. Tonight everything was off. First off, I called to ask do they serve all the way until 11 pm? And would it feel like I was being rushed out if I arrived at 10:45 or something. The man who answered assured me it was open and Id be welcomed.
I cannot believe I ended up arriving at 10:35 instead (they close at 11.) I walked into SUPER loud, dark satanic meets punk vibed music. It was so piercing to me as I had just driven from Sedona and been in a high energy vortex around such positive vibes. I was very kind but kinda shocked when I asked her could she please turn it down? She said she had to check but would maybe make an exception “but typically no we don’t do that “ quote unquote. Ok and there were only about 3 other groups of people eating there left all which to me appeared to try to get as far away as possible from the “noise”. I walked from back room, to patio, back to back room trying to find the quietest place. In meantime, as she went to the back, the kitchen is kinda open almost like a hallway that if you turn the wrong way you’d enter right in almost thinking it was another room, I say that because I could see her talking to the cook or someone back there about my request. He then looked at me directly so from where I was standing I made a gesture which is the sign for “just a notch” like a “small amount” with my fingers.. i said “Hey do you mind, just a notch?” She then RUDELY interrupted me and snapped so intensely at me and said “Hold on just a second!” she claimed later she said please but there was NOTHING PLEASING ABOUT HER.
I do not feel for one second she was looking out for my best interest as a customer. She was tired and ready to go home. When I apologized and tried to explain my sensitivity, she acted as if I had been the one in the wrong. She frowned at me, never said I understand. I went to the guy working behind the bar , also apologized to him that I was sensitive but also said wow I have never been greeted with such a hostile vibe and Ive been to 200 vegan restaurants across USA from my years in Seattle, to Portland, ti Hawaii, to many years in Greater LA.
He was very friendly (to my face anyway)
Later the meal came and it had corn all in it. I had to go back and reorder something new because I am allergic but I totallllly was planning to pay for it because that was my fault. The guy behind bar was kind and said dont worry about it , seeing I only took a bite, I again said sorry and said wow this is just not my night. I exchanged it for the Tofu Scramble which was pretty spicy.. though was told it wasn’t. At this point I didn’t care. I had enjoyed my tasty fries and was trying to get over how I was treated. The guy at bar kept saying water was inside and that Christina was refilling it so I was waiting. Turns out she wasnt. So i was standing and waiting and finally asked her - she said Im not refilling it but can get you some. She went to kitchen to refill, brought out aggressively in my opinion, still with an attitude.. I tried so hard to be kind to her. I tried making light conversation knowing Id be back to try more food, now she was nothing less than completely bitchy.. She stared at counter and was wiping things down with a rag acting as if I was controversial. I finally said I was just trying to explain to you that I was in a vortex and Im highly sensitive.. and drove 1.5 hrs to be here tonight. She was still not receptive. I said ya know ir shouldnt be me the customer apologizing to you. Im still the customer. She said well we are both human and I am and you are. I said I knew that but said I dont feel like you are sorry I had a bad experience tonight at all. and she said not kidding “I’m not” “ I am sorry you feel that way” I said yeah but I don’t feel compassion or understanding and I am trying to connect here and resolve this... she walked away hastily again. I went back to bar guy again and said wow. In all my years I have never seen someone so intent on not being of kind customer service.. and for NO REASON .. cause I pointed out she snapped at me. Well she did!!! That I asked kindly for music to be turned down ! It was way tooo loud. That is NOT an unreasonable request. Also when I was trying to resolve this when she was over near water, I finally (at wit’s end) asked for her name.. VERY MUCH ON THE DEFENSE she said “Christina, what’s yours?”.. It felt wrong. I said this sucks cause you know I am going to call rhe manager tomorrow and share about this experience. NEVER ONCE SAYING LET ME MAKE THIS RIGHT OR EVEN TRYING TO she replied with “I will be talking to them too about you and my experience “
wow!!! Like she was the victim? No. If I had been a totally rude person I wouldn’t have said please and thank you or tried hard to share my story of being sensitive or motioned to the cook before she abruptly said “JUST A MINUTE” .. wouldn’t have motioned the small symbol
(which meant can you just go down a notch “) I tried hard to down play and take it on myself even sharing with bar guy- well we all have bad nights myself included and sometimes people’s energy just collide.
I am sad to say unless Christina changes her professionalism and realizes that she is not beyond “coaching”, which is something I said I think needed to happen, I can’t say I will come back in the restaurant. I am a long time foodie, vegan, organizer of meet up groups and potlucks and respected by most people. I am not trying to cause any trouble for anyone. All I wanted was to be respected, walk into a nice place with good food I drove so far to and eat in peace. I did not want to be rushed, talked to in a condensing tone, not listened to, and face controversy in anyway.. and yet that is what happened! I can say other men working there SEEMED friendly to me. The only person who openly acted this way was her. It is a shame. Wanted to resolve it!
Pros: Tasty
Keep you politics to yourself
We were looking for a new place to try out. I then read on their website they are collecting donations to defund the police. To put this on a business website is a complete joke. Keep you views to yourself or lose business.
Pros: Who cares
Cons: Blatant display of racism

Treated very poorly there - Edit
They were quite mean to us and threw a plate of fries at our 12 year old daughter. Obviously never going back. #Veganuary
