The place in the basement is not very pleasant. The starters were good - chips and an onion patty.

A truly unique experience - Edit
Vegalite is not the typical vegan restaurant. Well, it have the vegan stickers at the toilet, and a punk vibe. But it is not everywhere you can enter a fully vegan restaurant, and enjoy a Czech, vegan meal in a basement, with a large Czech beer selection (and even two of their own beers, it seems). Furthermore, they close late, so you are not in a rush if you prefer a late meal. And they even host rock/punk koncerts!
Read moreThe food is great, the staff is nice, and the atmosphere is unique. Vegalite is a must visit if you are in Brno.

hot tip for vegan food in Brno - Edit
exactly what i love: a punky place downstairs that serves a vegan menu changing daily. great chill atmosphere, friendly staff, seemed that it had some regulars hanging around which is always a good sign. the menu is perfectly priced, comes with a soup as a starter and two main dishes to choose from. i had a goulash made with oyster mushrooms that was perfectly seasoned. i also had a slice of sacher cake that was great. if i lived in brno, i’d come here several times a week!

Nice - Edit
Extensive menu, nice atmosphere, good music, fair price (160kr for the lunch menu consisting of soup and a main and water). The garlic soup was amazing, the saitan roast was also nice. I'd say they could've given more saitan and less of the bread dumplings but overall it was filling and good

Cheap but certainly no gourmet food - Edit
In a city that is known for its underground places (bunkers, crypts, tunnels and so on), it’s only suitable to have an underground vegan restaurant as well.
Read moreVegalite is a spacious cellar with a distinct punk atmosphere. I immediately felt comfortable.
I went there during lunch hours, so I simply settled for the daily menu. Soup, main (two dishes at choice) and dessert. Total costs: 155 CZK. That price can’t be beaten, really inexpensive! However, I must add, the food was rather poor. The soup was the only good part of it, a nicely seasoned Arabic soup. The main was a questionable schnitzel with some potato salad that chiefly tasted like preserving agent. The dessert were some canned tangerines. Possibly the à-la-cart-menu is better, maybe the daily lunch menu is simply a cheap option in order to get your tummy full - if so, great! If not, I’d still come for the atmosphere and beer.
There was a large pitcher of lemon-flavored water on each table, for free. Service was very quick and friendly. Vegalite also sells some sort of merchandise as well as self-made kimchi in jars. It’s a dog-friendly place as well.
Even though the food was so-so, I’d love to come back and taste more.

Moist lair with good cuisine - Edit
If you don't mind a moist cellar with sticky tables, you will be rewarded with good vegan cuisine interesting choices and friendly staff. It's only the fungi odour that is keeping me away from visiting this place again.

Úžasná veganská restaurace (hospoda)/Amazing vegan restaurant (pub) - Edit
Úžasná, konečně plně veganská restaurace/hospoda, výborné jídlo, milá obsluha a krásné prostředí, takovej podzemní skoro sklepní prostor a člověk se tam cítí tak hezky, je to takové velmi přívětivé pro alternativní lidi všeho druhu, jo a mají i krásnou výzdobu na záchodech, no prostě není co vytknout.
Read moreAmazing, finally fully vegan restaurant/pub, great meals, kind staff and beautiful ambience, it's a underground, almost cellar space, but one feels so nice there, it's a perfect safe space for all kinds of alternative people, yeah and there are even really nice decorations in the restroom, basically, there's nothing to complain about.

Halfway between a Krishna place and the land of promises - Edit
Lunchtime menu is offered that is prepared somewhat boring like those overcooked Krishna dishes. Unfortunately the honesty of their effort does not appear as ambition. The service cannot leave much impression that may mean they do their job like pros, and do not want to pretend friendliness.

Very friendly staff, tasty food - Edit
Kitchen is open till late and staff is very relaxed but professional. They have an English menu and allergies are well listed (as is more common in Czech Republic). Food portions are large and filling, prices are low. It was rather empty when i was there, ambience wasn't very inspiring. I went with non-vegan colleagues who were also content.

A nice Czech pub atmosphere but make it vegan. Many options, great price (especially for daily menu that comes with a soup and water). Also offers vegan variations of traditional Czech dishes (highly recommend vegan fried cheese). Taste is usually nothing espectacular but ok.
