Some of the World's Best Vegan Gelato - Edit
I just had some of the best gelato I have ever had at this gelateria. I had the coffee flavor. Creamy, rich, perfectly sweetened filled with the taste of fresh coffee. The gelato was served on a sugar cone.
Read moreI was given tastes of many other flavors, and all were fantastic!!
This gelateria is in the same space as the Sacred, and had this gelato after eating a delicious buffet meal at the Sacred.

Really amazing ice cream and nice staff. Has a tiny store attached where they sell lots of vegan products (many milk substitute, soy yoghurt/mock dairy products, fake meats etc) that are made in zurich.

Best place to be in Zürich! - Edit
Everything is organic and made with love. I have tried many flavors of ice cream there and they all were amazing (sugar free and vegan).
Read moreThe cold and warm options from the buffet were also elaborate and tasty.

Must try ice-cream - Edit
When in Zurich, you must try an ice-cream from vegelateria! We first had lunch at the adjesent sacred buffet and came back later that day, to have a refreshing ice-cream. So many choices, made it difficult to choose.
Read moreThe numbers on the name tags refer to the different ice-cream bases (listed in German so feel free to ask for an explanation). I tried the fermented chocolate and the lemongrass-ginger, which were delicious!!
Pros: a lot of vegan ice-cream options

more than ice cream - Edit
Pros: best vegan ice in town, everything is organic, nice staff
Cons: rather high-priced

European buffet, nice ice cream, large space - Edit
Mostly young, urban locals cater the restaurant / ice cream parlor. Quality of and choice of food buffet is excellent (I would call it European food & salad buffet). No 'garlic everywhere' overload like often in vegan cuisine.
Read moreOwners are big fans of Sri Chinmoy (the guru) and of esoteric, peaceful, 'smiling' spitituality. Hence, all goes in a very slow and peaceful pace.
Excellent ginger tea w/ lemon, chai latte tea (soy milk of course), etc..
Ice cream is very soft and comes in lotsa flavors incl. different berries, chocolate & orange, spirulina (algae), apple, etc., all biologically grown.
Pretty large indoor seating area -- and some chairs outside, too.
Prices are very high compared to the rest of Europe but completely normal for the city of Zurich: large plate of food'n'salad from buffet costs 22 USD, three scoops of ice cream 11 USD.
15 mins walk from central train station.
Pros: friendly, peaceful space, fresh, european food, ice cream! ;)

renovation - Edit
In August 2015 Vegelateria has made a renovation. Since then the name had changed to: Vegelateria & Amazing Strength Restaurant
Read moreThe have now a new bathroom for ladies which is suitable for the disabled. In addition they installed a ventilation system.

This restaurant offers something you hardly find together: vegan AND organic! You can choose from a wide range of cold and warm dishes in buffet style. The food is excellent, the stuff is very friendly and prices are moderate for the Swiss. Ten cows!

Fabulous! - Edit
We are over in Zurich for a few days from the UK with a friend who works here.
Read moreShe said we really should have lunch here and we were not disappointed.
The staff are all friendly and held and greeted us like we ate there everyday.
A buffet style system is in place for the food and your plate is weighed so you only pay for what you have.
Trying not to put too much on your plate as a first visitor is the biggest problem when going to an all vegan restaurant, and the food was just excellent.
I recommend this restaurant and think you should visit it if you are in Zurich
Pros: good food, lots to choose from, friendly staff

Good ice cream and coffee - Edit
Exhausted after a 20 km run, we were looking for ice cream near HB. HappyCow showed us to this place and we were not disappointed. (Although "near HB" might be an overstatement, it is definitely within walking distance.) The ice cream comes in about 15 flavours and you can taste them to help make up your mind.
Read moreDuring our visit, most tables were occupied by other visitors, most of whom were attending the vegan buffet. It looked good but we didn't try it.

Good buffet - Edit
I was there in the evening for the vegan buffet. Lots of choice from salad via hummus over curry to Zuricher Geschnetzeltes. I had to try everything and liked it all :-) You pay per weight, but it is really quite inexpensive for Swiss standards. Staff was friendly, too, and the place is quite cosy.

relaxing and delicious - Edit
A buffet where you can eat everything is a wondrous thing. As a family of four vegans that's what we got here. We are great fans of the pay by weight system here and elsewhere, ideal for a variety of appetites, and you can tell who's saving themselves for ice cream.
Read moreThe owner and staff are very friendly. The music is a little soporific, though they didn't seem to mind me snoozing at the table while the rest of the family indulged in exciting flavours of home made vegan ice cream we've never found anywhere else.
There's a small range of vegan dairy products available to buy to take home, including a really delicious and creamy yoghurt.
Wouldn't it be nice to live down the road from this place! Well worth a visit if you are in Zurich for a day or two, as we were.

Not Bad. - Edit
There was a good choice of dishes at the buffet. None of it was that amazing, but as a slightly less expensive sit-down vegan place in Zürich, it was worth a visit.
Read moreI wanted to try the ice cream after reading other reviews. It was okay, but just like any other ice cream, beware of the sugar rush!
The interior is a bit heavy on the spiritual side and the lighting was too bright. It all felt very new too, but i'm sure it'll develop some atmosphere as time goes on.
Pros: All vegan
Cons: Too bright

good ice cream, but EXPENSIVE - Edit
I do not know how this place is rated as "inexpensive," as one tablespoon-sized scoop of ice cream costs several Euro, so if you get 3 tiny scoops you are already pushing 6 or 7 Euro (that's close to 10 dollars for a tiny dessert!).
Read moreWith that out of the way, the selection of ice creams was excellent: coffee flavors, fruity flavors, chocolate flavors, and nut flavors. Delicious!!!
There was a strange vibe to the place, but the gelato was worth trying. We would prefer the desserts at Tibits though.
Pros: huge variety, high quality vegan gelato, interesting and delicious flavors
Cons: very EXPENSIVE, tiny portions, strange vibe
