Great place for authentic Afghan Food. Most dishes can easily be veganised by leaving out Joghurt Sauce.

Wir entschieden uns für eine gemischte Platte mit verschiedenen Currys und Samosas bzw einem Pfannkuchen. Es fiel uns hier schon sehr schwer uns auf zwei der drei Currys festzulegen und hatten somit die Qual der Wahl.
Während unserer Wartezeit bekamen wir von einem charmanten älteren Herren (Service) einen schwarzen Tee gebracht und wurden nach der gewünschten Schärfe für die Hauptspeise gefragt.
Wir entschieden uns wohl in beiden Fällen richtig, da sich die Wahl der Currys als absolut gelungen herausstellte und unsere Gaumen beim Verzehr nicht in einen Feueralarm verfielen.
Allein das Ambiente könnte etwas gemütlicher sein, da alles recht spartanisch wirkt.

My father has been going there for years always eating the same vegetarian dish (samosas), even though he is not vegetarian. The food their is just amazing I loved everything I ate there. And the owners are just such lovely people! Definitely go there if you get the chance!

The owners know what "vegan" means and are very friendly. The food is nice and a average meal costs 8€ and you get some tea with it. Jummy mix of different things.

The food is delicious, i recommend the mixed vegetarian plate (8€). The owners are super nice and you get a cup of tea for free.

The portion is huge. The food tastes okay and tends to be oily with a lot of fried snack options. The owner has certain knowledge about vegan food, so do not worry!

Their vegetarian menu is already vegan apparently, which is nice. I ordered a mixed plate and got a big portion of rice, veggies, sauce and specialties like Samosa and falafel. Although they heat the meal in the microwave, it was pretty good, not too much or too little spices. Definitely recommend falafel and Samosa. They did not have a vegan Lassi unfortunately.

It's a pity that I can't give them 5 stars, cause if any place deserves it, this is the place! Afghan Eck is a medium size bistro owned by an Afghan family, serving food from their homeland. The vibe at the place is unusually nice, I don't know how they do that but all the people that visited that place that I've talked to, agreed that you instantly feel like you're a part of the family. The food is prepared in advance and then reheated - so that might be a tiny minus, but oh boy... It's been over a week since I was there and I'm still reminiscing of that Bolani with beans and aubergines that I had.... It is worth to add that if you order it spicy, they really make it spicy!! It is really an extraordinary place with absolutely fantastic food. They do have an understanding of what veganism is about and all the vegetarian stuff they serve is also vegan. If you are in Freiburg, you MUST go to Afghan eck, you won't regret.

With a menu full of fresh vegan dishes, Afghan Eck offers the best place to eat in for vegans in Freiburg, The staff is also very vegan friendly, although the place serves meat as well.
