Our second visit to an ain soph and we loved it
Read moreMy wife had a large spaghetti bolognaise and I had the ripple burger.
Both were delicious, the burger was epically messy to eat and delicious.
We both left absolutely stuffed

Worth a visit - Edit
If you find yourself in Shinjuku then you should eat here. Yes, it's on the pricier side, but the food is certainly worth it. Food I showed in pics cost JPY4500.

Pretty pricy but very good food - Edit
All vegan restaurant that transparently notes all allergens! we had the teriyaki soy chicken and the glutenfree pasta genovese.
Read moreFor starters we had a tomato-chickpea soup and a salad respectively.
The food was quite tasty, however we easily had space for desserts, which is fine because they were great, but for the price you could expect bigger portions...
The vibe is cozy and has a very european vibe.
The menu was in english and japanese, the server spoke good english and the toilets were clean, for what it's worth ;)
If you don't have the biggest hunger and some spare money, I would recommend this place😄

Quite pricy compared to other places but the quality of the food is worth it. I had the tortilla wrap and the caramel nut brownie. Both were delicious. Would love to visit again and to try other dishes.

A reliable vegan spot - Edit
Ain Soph has multiple locations, including several in Tokyo and 1 in Kyoto. We tried the one in Shinjuku (Tokyo) and it was very good. I really enjoyed the raspberry cream soda and the crème brûlée. They also sell a few items - I purchased a small cactus leather purse from the location in Kyoto.

More desserts on the menu than main dishes - Edit
The main draw appears to be the Heavenly Pancakes. In fact, that was the sign out front and it wasn't clear that the restaurant was Ain Soph until I looked on the menu. There were a large number of dessert dishes on the menu, but the savory options were a bit limited. We had the teriyaki chicken, which was tasty and was served with excellent nutty brown rice with seeds. The green curry was just OK. I made the mistake of also ordering the karaage, which turned out to be the same fried chicken alternative, without the teriyaki sauce, and served with mayonnaise. I would eat here again if in the neighborhood, but wouldn't go out of my way to get here.

Yummy - Edit
A good modern Japanese restaurant. We pre-ordered the popular heavenly pancakes and are so glad we did as they are…well… heavenly.
Read moreWe also enjoyed the teriyaki dish they offer - it is my partner’s favourite of the trip so far.
We were really pleased with the food.
However, downstairs it smelt of damp and mold. Upstairs that smell went, but it looked like there was mold in the walls. Whilst this could be an interesting design choice, the smell suggests otherwise and it made me worry about hygiene safety for the workers (and a little us). That’s why I have docked a point. Staff were friendly and food came out promptly.
Must make a reservation - was popular.
Pros: Delicious food, Heavenly pancakes
Cons: Smell of damp, Reservation required (popularity)

Good food - Edit
We had a burger with fries (which was delicious) and the soy chicken teriaki bowl (which was okay, but the rice was a bit dry). The drinks were good to. All in all the focus on much healthy vegan food (bowls, brown rice) instead of comfort food. We would come back for the burgers and maybe try some sweets.
