Good beer and few vegan options - Edit
There are only a few vegan options (they removed the beer goulash from the menu) but the nachos with vegan cheese and chilli are fantastic and the beer is good, too.

Viele vegane Optionen - Edit
Im Restaurant „Altes Mädchen“ gibt es viele vegane Optionen. Auch Vorspeisen und Desserts. Sehr lecker, tolle Auswahl an Bier und anderen Getränken, rustikale, sehr schöne Atmosphäre.

Not everything on the menu was available - Edit
I was looking forward to the vegan beer goulash in advance. When I went to place my order, I was told that it wasn't available. It would have been nice to be told in advance. So I went for the lentil burger. It was okay in terms of flavour, but nothing more. The deep-fried potatoes, on the other hand, were very tasty. Unfortunately, the waiting times were also very long.

While it's nice to see that they have several vegan options, I wasn't impressed by the food. The potato soup was more of a lemon soup, way too lemony, didn't taste of potato at all. I couldn't finish it. The bread that came with it tasted weird as well, don't know what that was.

There was quite a bit of selection for vegetarian options. I had the knodel, and I hate to say it but it was a good as my moms.

Amazing food and beer - Edit
We loved the atmosphere beer and food. Our waiter was awesome. We had a beer flight (called taster in Germany). Their pick only but thumbs up for all 5. I had an amazing Caesar salad and my husband had the knodel and wow. So good. There’s a lentil burger and a few other vegetarian options. Great district too. So many food options and vegan friendly restaurant.

Read moreHabe den veganen Burger probiert. Wir haben relativ lange auf das Essen gewartet. Es war allerdings auch sehr voll. Als das Essen dann kam war es nur noch lauwarm. Geschmacklich in Ordnung, aber nicht spektakulär. Die Portionen waren überschaubar und für die Größe recht teuer. Ich fand es insgesamt okay, aber nicht spektakulär.
Pros: Vegane Optionen vorhanden., Intressante Zutaten

I was pleasantly surprised with their vegan options! With Labskaus being one of my fondest childhood memories, I needed to try their version, and it was really good! The place can be a bit loud/crowded, but we had a great time and will be back.

Schöne Location und leckeres Essen - Edit
Waren erst nur auf ein Bier dort, da wir in einem nahegelegenen Restaurant für den Abend reserviert hatten. Da uns die Speisekarte aber so angesprochen hat, sind wir am nächsten Abend nochmal zum Essen gekommen. Sowohl das Bier, als auch das Essen sind absolut zu empfehlen. Die Auswahl an veganen Speisen kann sich sehen lassen, wir würden auf jeden Fall wieder hin, wenn wir in Hamburg sind.

Read moreThe place is MASSIVE and designed like a country-style alehouse. There is both indoor and outdoor seating They brew their own beer and had 25 different beers on tap. They also bake their own bread.
The menu was really easy to understand as the vegan options were clearly labeled. There were lots of vegan options including two bread starters, a lentil burger, nachos with a "cheese"-sauce, an oat schnitzel, Lobscouse (a Hamburg classic) and a brownie for dessert. For each dish there was a pairing suggestion for one of their homebrewed beers.
I had the lentil burger and the brownie and they were both amazing. The brownie is one of the best vegan brownies I've ever had. The beer was also great.
I really enjoyed Altes Mädchen and would love to go back the next time I'm in Hamburg!

Nice service, you would feel at home if the place was not that big. They bake their own fresh bread and have a ton of beer options including a tasting where you get to try 5 different kinds of beer. The vegan stuff we tried was very tasty however look at the menu, the options are limited. You will find something (they also have gluten-free stuff, if needed) but well… just inform beforehand. I was happy with what was offered but I know to well how it can be, in other occasions.

Big brewery with pub with many vegan options (Spätzle with cheese; thin, seutéed stripes of saitan in sauce with Spätzle, soups, vegan meatballs with salad...). Once I had the thin sautéed stripes of saitan in sauce with Spätzle and the second time I had Spätzle with cheese. Both was very delicious!

Großes Brauereigasthaus mit vielen veganen Optionen (Käsespätzle, Saitangeschnetzeltes, Suppen, Frikadellen...). Ich habe einmal das Saitangeschnetzelte gegessen und bei einem zweiten Besuch die Käsespätzle. Beides war super lecker!
Das Service-Personal war immer sehr freundlich, lustig drauf und immer für einen Spaß zu haben. Nebenbei wurden wir biertechnisch sehr gut beraten 😋.
Ein negativer Punkt, ist, dass es ziemlich teuer ist (Saitangeschnetzeltes für 17,50€, Bier ab 5,90€/0,33l), jedoch große Portionen. Trotzdem waren wir zwei Mal dort, weil wir uns einfach sehr wohl gefühlt haben. #Veganuary
