Authentic Indian cuisine, but limited vegan options - Edit
So this Indian restaurant with vegan options was close to our hotel and we decided to give it a try. It's definitely authentic as it is run by Indians. Some of the staff speak fluent English, so they were able to provide information on the vegan options offered. Because we were interested in the combo meals and the included yogurt, we asked how that could be modified for vegans. We were told an additional vegan curry would be substituted for the yogurt. We were satisfied with this solution so this is what we ordered.
Read moreWhen the food arrived, we noticed there were only five, rather than six different items. Apparently the additional vegan curry never made it onto the plate. The food was quite tasty, especially the dosa, which we had never had before.
After we finished our entrees, we sat patiently waiting for dessert, which is included with the combo meals. We waited, and waited, and waited. Granted, the restaurant was quite busy, but our waiter didn't seem interested in checking in on us. Maybe he realized he couldn't deliver on his promise of an additional curry, so he stayed away? We flagged him down and asked about dessert, to which he responded there was no vegan dessert and that's why he hadn't brought us any. It would have been nice for him to inform us of that fact rather than just ignoring us. Since we were paying full price for the combo meals and we had already been shorted a promised additional vegan curry, we asked if there was something that could be put together that would meet our dietary requirements. He went to speak with the chef and assured us that something would be made.
The dessert that arrived appeared to be a blend of mango and rice, so a mango rice pudding, in effect. It was actually really quite tasty and we mentioned that maybe this is something they could add to their menu for vegans. I guess I'll have to check the reviews here to see if they decided to do that.
I don't know if I'd recommend this place for vegans, but it seems perfectly suitable for vegetarians. The food was quite good and since they offer a vegetarian menu, there won't be any issues with substitutions or lack thereof.
Pros: Tasty, authentic food, English fluency with some staff
Cons: Promised substitutions were not provided, Service could be improved

I ate there a few days ago. If you eat from the set menu there's either a meat option or vegetarian option. On the back is the same thing but with a starter course of Dosas added. I ordered the vegetarian set menu with dosa, straight from the menu, nothing custom.
Read moreThe food was great and good value but the service I recieved echos yours. The waiter just forgot about us.
Despite being a small restaurant it was hard to track him down to order desserts, then our desserts took a long time to come. I then had to stand around the kitchen to flag him down so we could pay and leave because he wasn't in a hurry to come to the table, even though the restaurant was pretty empty.
PS your mango rice pudding has not made it onto the menu.

The best Indian food in the town - Edit
I had Masala Dosa here and it tasted really authentic. Many other dishes can also be ordered vegan by modification. Ambience is really good and staff understands and speaks fluent English.
