Best Sandwich Ever; More Vegan Options Needed!

Bae Borth Deli Bar is a tiny deli based in the picturesque sea side village of Borth-y-Gest. They have a handful of indoor and outdoor seating, with every seat offering a vantage point of the sea.

The deli specialises in local produce, namely cheese, alcohol and preserves. I didn't spot a single vegan cheese, but some of the spirits and preserves were accidentally vegan. Borth Deli has a small blackboard menu, and it is only within the last couple of years that they've added a vegan option. They also have some homemade sweet treats on offer, but after enquiring, none of them were vegan, but they are in the process of trying different recipes as they want the vegan sweets to meet their high standards. The inside of the deli is also decorated with local artwork, Welsh language idioms, and lyrics, and it is a really nice place to sit and enjoy quality food and drink.

Now, when I say quality, I mean QUALITY. As the title of this review reveals, their Gochu Tofu may be the best sandwich I've ever had, and I am including all my pre-vegan sandwiches in this statement, too. The sandwich was Homemade Foccacia filled with Gochujang Marrinated Tofu, Pickled Veg, Fresh Herbs with a Lemon, and Ginger Dressing. It was absolutely incredible, and I even vaguely recall saying 'wow' aloud to myself after my first bite. I can see other reviewers on here have claimed that their sandwich from Borth Deli was the best sandwich ever, but theirs is a different sandwich to what I had, so clearly Borth Deli are experts in creating unbelievable sandwiches. I also had a side of Miso, Carrot & Ginger Soup, and that was also just absolutely delicious. My meal was a tripple threat, as the Oat Flat White I had was also a stand out.

So Bae Borth Deli Bar is a bit of a paradox for vegans. On the one hand, they only have one vegan item, but I'm sure the vegetarian Kale Salad could be easily made vegan. They also only have one plant milk, and no vegan sweets. They also have a fridge full of cheese in the cafe area, and naturally as a vegan graphic images of dairy cows on farms were playing in my mind when I clapped eyes on it. However, on the other hand, the vegan sandwich they do serve is probably one of the best you'll find in North Wales, and the service and coffee were also top-notch. Although Borth Deli could offer more options and produce for vegans, I am still going to recommend this Deli for the sandwich alone. It will absolutely be worth the trip or long wait during the summer!

Pros: Outstanding Food, Homemade Food, Wonderful Coffee, Great Staff, Nice Location, Nice Atmosphere

Cons: No Vegan Sweets, Only One Vegan Plant Milk, Only One Vegan Dish

Incredible sandwich

Absolutely the best sandwich we’ve ever had!!!

I am vegan, partner is veggie and both had the Tofu Rueben as recommended by staff. Also had the side soup which was basil and courgette which was also amazing! Really good value for money, lovely location and very friendly and knowledgable staff! One of the best places in wales! Only 1-2 vegan options, soup was also vegan but the menu is quite small anyway so didn’t feel like this was unusual. Two extra options that were vegetarian.

Pros: Amazing, unique food. , Friendly staff, Stunning location

Best sandwich ever

Foodie deli. Limited menu but always has 1 or 2 vegan options. I had the tofu Reuben. Gorgeous homemade foccacia with thinly sliced marinated tofu, pickles etc.

Pros: High quality ingredients , Sea views

Cons: Limited vegan options
