It's good. But not super good. - Edit
Honestly, I think we went on an "off" night because the other reviews are glowing. I was sorta disappointed. I mean everything we had was good but nothing stood out as amazing.
Read moreI think the best thing on the menu is the chorizo-stuffed poblano pepper.
The queso fundido had a great flavor but the texture was bizarre. It was SO soupy...like dipping chips into tomato soup. It was just dripping everywhere.
Horchata and guacamole were excellent...but you gotta really screw up guacamole and horchata to make them bad.
We ended the evening with the Tres Leches cake, and it was also very tasty but bizarre texturally. It was so dense, it was like eating a blondie with coconut milk on top. The milk literally could not penetrate the density of the cake. Again, tasted good but like the queso...just kind of wrong.
Not sure if we were there on a really "off" night so I'd give them another shot. But if you're in Philly like on a once-in-a-lifetime trip...there are better, more consistently good places to go out for a nice dinner.
Pros: 100% vegan menu
Cons: SUPER loud

Stunning Puerto Rico Vegan - Edit
Philly is becoming a go to destination for world class vegan cuisine. Vedge and V-Street (my personal favorite) of the same owners/pioneers sets the bar very high. Yet here we are in a wonderful bar/dining room space in a pristine city location dining on vegan Cubano sliders, Spicy cauliflower tacos, an absolutely sensational, citrus zingy hearts of palm ceviche, loving every mouth watering moment of it!!! And what’s not to love about the most decadent coconut custard? Welcome to the growing golden (green) age of vegan feasting that is growing and growing in the city of vegan love. (Did I forget their amazing cocktails and happy hour menu? We will be back).

Delicious! - Edit
Had the nachos with chorizo, the guac, and grapefruit marg with sugar. Food was delicious! Guac was small portion but ended up being perfect. Yuca app was also small FYI but yummmm. Small seating area, cozy. Make a reservation just in case. Highly recommend! Updated to add - the empanadas were divine!!

Standouts incl. the deep flavors of romesco in the albóndigas and the crunchy texture of the oyster mushroom tacos - Edit
Last night in Philly called for a visit to Bar Bombón, where authentic Puerto Rican flavors meet a modern, plant-based twist. Cool atmosphere shared with good company, paired with refreshing drinks. A huge shoutout to the attentive staff who went beyond to make the evening special.
Read moreWhile everything was tasty, standouts were the deep flavors of romesco in the albóndigas and the crunchy texture of the oyster mushroom tacos. Full order included guacamole fresca, sweet plantains w/ aioli, hearts of palm tacos, and chorizo stuffed poblano pepper. (not pictured). Bonus: the menu clearly marks gluten-free options.
It’s great to find a place that feels authentic while remaining entirely veg-forward. If you’re in the city, stop by for a taste of Puerto Rico.

Charming expensive brunch! - Edit
I relished my salad and the loaded nachos my friend and I shared (warning: they are abundant). The plantains were absolute fire. She got an avocado toast and we shared the plantain dessert which was sadly underwhelming and actively unpleasant; I didn’t like the bread they wrapped the plantains in even one little bit. This all totaled like $80 somehow.

Delicious Puerto Rican food - Edit
Love everything about this place. Bright, clean modern but classic decor. Service was fantastic, very knowledgeable about the menu and great suggestions. Food was fabulous. They have brunch until 3 pm on weekends and we arrived just in time to order from the brunch menu. Food was plated beautifully and the flavors were fantastic. The tofu scramble in the grande breakfast was moist with a mildly spicy sauce, avocado, and pico de gallo. It came with 3 tortillas, black beans, and 2 vegan sausage patties. Made some breakfast tacos and still had some tofu scramble and beans leftover to take home. Can't wait to come back and try more entrees.

Nice Ambiance - Edit
This is a small cozy restaurant with a large menu and large portions. The food was good and the waiters were friendly. The food could have been more flavorful or the flavors more balanced (adding some sweetness or something tangy if if only on the side).

Generous and Flavorful Portions! - Edit
stopped for a beverage each and some “snacks” before a reservation at charlie was a sinner. ordered a couple of happy hour drinks (mango jalapeño margarita and hugo spritz) and a few plates from the happy hour menu (buffalo cauliflower bowl, philly steak empanada, korean beef taco). it was all incredible. the cauliflower bowl portion was super generous and so tasty! korean beef taco was sweet, savory, and spicy all at the same time! and the philly empanada was so smoky and rich. i wish we’d made this our only stop of the night so we could’ve enjoyed even more!

Tapas except generous portions - Edit
Just wow! Incredible options. If it isn’t busy I would recommend staggering your order - food came out very quickly. I was expecting tiny portions since it’s a tapas place close to Rittenhouse square. We definitely could have ordered one less item. The Mexican hot chocolate was beautifully spiced.
Read moreStarted out with the queso which had a great flavor especially the pesto-y oil on top. The server recommended the double chorizo burger which was my personal favorite - a bit messy if you cut in half to split but delicious flavor! The chipotle sauce on the fries with the burger was great and the fries were well cooked and crisp. The Philly steak empanadas were also good and the server recommended this amazing yellow tangy sauce to go with them. We ended with the meatballs which were my least favorite but still good.

Went for a quick lunch. I had the yuca and aji amarillo, which was delightful and super flavorful. Tried one of my friends meatballs and it was really yummy! I also got the patatas. The peach agua Fresca was really refreshing too!

Great Latin Vegan Food - Edit
I’ve been here for brunch, lunch, and dinner and I’ve enjoyed Bar Bombon for each meal! I’d say I love the brunch in particular, with great coffee and both sweet and savory options. The dining room is a tad small though, so I recommend making a reservation on weekends

100% vegan! - Edit
had a layover to London and stopped in for lunch here. Easy to make reservations as they are on the app, OpenTable.
Read moreThe menu is perfect... it's all vegan! I picked out a couple things, but my server had suggested her favorites. The Peruvian Yuca isn't something I'd order... a bit spicy but so good. Really could have just enjoyed the starters. The Clasico Wedge Salad was delicious... generous with the dressing:) The Double Chorizo Burger comes with a large amount of fries topped with chipotle ranch. They have a Brunch menu for Saturday and Sunday til 3 and hope to try it when I return to Philly.

Not impressed - Edit
My least favorite of the three Marquis restaurants (HipCityVeg & charlie was a sinner being the other 2). Small serving sizes and sorta bland offerings. They don't give the food any real personality.
Read moreThe size of the room and the amount of people make it really loud inside too.

Good but not great - Edit
We've been here twice, both times we enjoyed the food but also found it a little bland. The side of street corn was our favorite thing; we wouldn't get the fish tacos or carnitas again but might come back if the menu changed. I felt bad for the servers as they seemed pretty hectic. It took a while to have anyone talk to us - we had reservations but waited maybe 5 minutes for someone to check us in and another 10 or so to be seated. But it was a busy night.
