Hoppy meal :-)

Not been here for years- popped in today for coffee and cake. Good coffee and a heavenly (and huge) slab of Biscoff Roll. Friendly staff and nice vibe. Recommended.

Pros: Good coffee, Good cake, Can buy “mheats” and cheezes out of the fridge

Our go to for vegan coffee and cake in Edinburgh

We love black rabbit! The venue is small so we've only ever taken away but every time we're through Edinburgh way we try make sure to catch their opening times for coffees and cakes.

A big selection of cakes and pastries available. Must admit our favourite were the cruffins which are no longer available but still some excellent choices. We've tried a couple of the sandwich options, usually whatever the special is at the time and have enjoyed pretty much everything we have tried from there.

The staff are lovely and friendly and I believe you get a small discount for taking your own cups for coffee and boxes for cake. Definitely check it out if you're nearby!

Pros: Fully vegan, lots to choose from

Cons: Discontinued cruffins

Yummy and Friendly

Got a chai with soy and carrot cake - both yummy. I have issues with vegan carrot cakes as they are often too sweet but this cake was pefect. Everyone in the cafe was lovely too from the customers and staff. A nice vibe!

Pros: Yummy cakes, Deli for taking things home, Cute deco

Cons: Not huge issue but it's small space for eating in

Super nice

The girl there was very cute and kind. Every sandwich comes with a little side salad and tastes great, lots of umami thanks to the mushrooms. The cake I tried was filling me to the top and was deliscious. Will return, good prices!

Kind service, delicious food and drinks!

The nae egg and bacon sandwich was the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever tasted. They somehow made the tofu taste exactly like egg salad? I’ve never once tasted a tofu dish like this! It was to die for!! My turmeric latte was also the best I’ve ever tried. It was perfectly spiced and not overly sweet. A must visit!

Pros: Service, Quality, Delicious food and drinks

Best vegan full breakfast in Edinburgh

So happy to see them doing sit in now- yes their pastries are great but don't sleep on the savory food. It's the best fill breakfast I've had in Edinburgh so far, and the eggs Benedict is incredible as well.

Nice

We had the cinnamon rolls and lime-strawberry cheesecake. Both were really good! However, the pictures here and on internet show a variety of products that wasn’t there!! We went an hour after opening, mostly for the viennoiseries such as croissants but there weren’t any…Huge disappointment. Also, the place is really small and we didn’t feel really welcomed

Pros: cinnamon rolls, cheesecake

Cons: not much variety , no viennoiseries , small place

Amazing cakes

We were sad because all the reviews show Cruffins, we went twice for these, one later on and one as soon as they open and there were never any signs of Cruffins….however we did buy the cinnamon rolls, lotus rolls and a selection of cakes (yes, we love cake!)
All were incredible…the cake was soft and to die for!!

Pros: Amazing cake, Buns were delicious , Lovely coffee

Cons: No Cruffins, Small and a limited selection

Must try the nae egg sandwich!!!!

We had the nae egg and haggis sandwich and the rabbit grilled sandwich. The nae egg was the best sandwich I’ve had in my life. The most incredible flavour, bread and portion size was HUGE. Would eat this sandwich 100 times over :). Staff were super lovely too.

Pros: Incredible portion sizes , Super tasty!, Lovely staff

Cons: Price but for what you get is VERY reasonable!!

Check em’ Out!

Cute little vegan cafe / restaurant. The service was lovely and the food was tasty! I got the Black Rabbit bagel. The bagel itself was nice and soft and it was packed full! The bacon (made in-house) was really nice and they deff don’t skimp on it! Can’t wait to visit again.

Maple pecan bun stood out

This is a very small little shop with a mix of sweet and savory pastries on display. We got a haggis turnover, a sourdough pain au chocolate, and a maple pecan bun. The maple pecan bun was definitely the best, it was very doughy and just the right amount of sweetness. However the pain au chocolate was dry - we got it because the sourdough croissant sounded very unique but it ended up not being that great, although the chocolate filling was very generous. Maybe we should have asked to have it warmed up? The haggis turnover was very nice though and came with a little side salad.

GET THE BLT!!!

tiny cafe and always super busy, so there’s a bit of a wait time and a little expensive, but they do have plenty of more luxury items like vegan cheeses and smoked salmon. The BLT is absolutely amazing. i don’t even understand how they can make something as simple as a BLT soooo delicious!!! definitely a must try if u want to treat yourself a little.

God-tier Scran

Ordered the haggis and egg sandwich, my partner got the bacon and egg. Portions were massive. Sandwiches bursting with flavour and food. Very impressed with the egg. If you’re vegan, and hungover, this place is your cure.

Delicious food, slightly limited GF options

All the food we had was nothing short of sensational. I had a chocolate tart slice - incredibly delicious and surprisingly light despite being a heavy style tart filling.

Only not 5* as only had one GF cake option and no GF sandwich options, but I tried a bit of everything my girlfriend had and it was stunning! The Christmas sandwich was probably the best sandwich I've ever tasted.

Pros: Fast service, Varied choice

Cons: Limited Gluten-free options
