Just ok, expensive - Edit
I ordered a tofu dish. It was literally just tofu with a bunch of oil and spices $25. No vegetables, even rice was an extra charge.

Great Vibe, Good food - Edit
The vibe in this place is very calm and inviting with a decent amount of vegan options. I ordered the fiery tofu and my family ordered other meals that were pretty good. I felt they were a bit more on the oily and salty side but the flavor was on point.

Shan noodles are a delicious mix of flavors. I also like the spicy eggplant. Lots of vegan options.

Solid option for omnivores - Edit
This is a good place to take non-vegan friends. We all enjoyed the vegan version of the famous Tea Leaf Salad (made vegan by removing dried shrimp and fish sauce), and I got the Fiery Hodo Tofu. It was good, though you have to buy rice separately which puts the dish well over $25 — pretty pricey for tofu. It’s a lovely restaurant and is very close to public transit.

Delicious Burmese at a Price - Edit
My friend and I split a few dishes together including their Rainbow Salad, the Mint Tofu, and their String Beans - with a side of coconut rice. The salad was a picturesque blend of vegetables with a citric dressing that made for a refreshing start to our meal. Their tofu and string beans were also packed with incredible flavors and I could tell they really put a high standard to the food they serve. Everything was top notch.
Read moreAlthough the food was great and we enjoyed our experience, I was a shocked at how steep some of the prices were even for the veggie options that we had ordered. Paying $20+ for each of our dishes was a bit of a shocker but hey, these are SF prices right?
Burma Love is a great spot to try at least once, and if you can afford it more often, then definitely come on back for more.
Pros: Beautiful dining ambiance
Cons: Expensive

Burma Love - Edit
Great new location. Less busy than their Mission location, which is more pleasant. Love the vegan versions of the sambusa soup and tea leaf salad. Always great quality.

Expensive but tasty - Edit
Their two tofu variants are both very tasty, and their veggies aren't bad either. Pretty fancy and expensive though.

Expanding the Burma Love to downtown - Edit
Whenever the fam's in town, I always gotta take them to Burmese b/c they can't get it back home. Happy that Burma Love Downtown was open for dine-in to serve as the last meal of their trip. For the vegan options, we ordered the tea leaf salad, the dried fried string beans, and the shan noodles. All three dishes were excellent but the clear standout was the shan noodles with its combo of a tomato base, earthy spices, and pickled mustard green. It is such a fun experience of flavors. I always order the shan noodles when I see it on a menu and my favorite so far has been at this location. Began the evening with a cocktail and ended it with a sorbet. All in all, a memorable meal.
