The Road Less Travelled - Edit
In the realms of food, overshadowed by its illustrious culinary neighbours, Burmese cuisine had been something that had never hit my radar until I unearthed this little beauty of a spot.
Read moreConfessedly, I could have opted for a considerably healthier selection of items, but this would have been contrary to what I actually wanted: a fabulous fried fritter feast.
Despite the fact that I didn’t deviate far from from one particular style of dish, the range of flavours and textures was truly impressive. This isn’t to say that they were all absolutely outstanding, the chickpea & sticky rice fritters were a little gummy, likewise the minced cow pea option, and the onion fritters were a little average, but these minor quibbles aside, everything else was pretty much excellent. Of the remaining cavalcade of battered beauties, the stuffed fried bean curd and, somewhat unexpectedly, the gourd fritters were my absolute favourites.
Knowing full well that this restaurant has more to offer than what can be pulled from the fryer, and having been suitably encouraged by this experience, I am keen to return to try more.
