Read moreOnce, while operating the espresso machine, I was given an order for a cappuccino with oat milk. I told the waiter - also the manager (at least at that time) - that we were fresh out of oat milk. He immediately replied, “Oh then just use normal milk. They won’t notice the difference.”
I replied something like, “Uhhh. What?! I have soy milk and almond milk here. Can you go ask them which one they’d rather have?”
He replied, “Whatever. You can go ask if you want.” (which is basically impossible for the person running the drink station)
After that, I arranged a meeting with the owner to tell her what happened. In the meeting, I calmly told her about the oat milk situation, as well as some concerns I had about kitchen hygiene (for example, there was no hand-soap in the kitchen for a multiple-day period of time… IN THE SUMMER OF 2020!).
After the meeting, she quietly stopped giving me shifts and didn’t return my messages. She never even fired me, she just ghosted me. 😡
Obviously, I highly recommend avoiding this place, if not simply out of principle. Which is really a shame, because it’s such a nice location…

I had the vegan Flammkuchen with pesto which I can recommend. The cafe is situated in a parc so it’s nice and quit.

Vegan friendly - Edit
Has a few vegan options (breakfast/pie/sandwich) and one of the few places that serves oat milk. That to me is a huge plus as I don't like soy.

Best damn apple pie ever - Edit
I love this café. It is so cozy. Super comfy armchairs. WiFi. Many vegan options. Yesterday I had their vegan apple pie for the first time and I was BLOWN AWAY. I have never had a better piece of apple pie in my life.

(Vegan) Friendly and cozy - Edit
Very cozy café with vegan options. I tried the vegan breakfast and had a power shake (also available with almond or soy milk) and would definitely recommend this. The staff was very friendly, the food and drinks delicious. The cakes look great and some are even vegan.

VEGAN-FRIENDLY BREAKFAST IN COLOGNE EHRENFELD - Edit
Café Fridolin is a super cosy café in a vintage 60s/70s living room style with little sofas, armchairs and dainty, flower-painted plates. And the best part is that it offers vegan breakfast, lunch snacks as well as delicious cakes. I have been there twice in the last two weeks for breakfast and really enjoyed the atmosphere and the vegan-friendly cuisine.

Cozy, friendly and many options. - Edit
Although not entirely vegan, there are many vegan options, such as milk aternatives (soy, oat, almond), vegan cakes, müsli and even some breakfast / lunch dishes. I was always well served and treated very friendly. it's one of my favorite spots in Cologne.
