I really liked that they had a whole menu of vegan dishes and asked right when we came in whether we'd like the vegan or gluten-free menu. We didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive and everything tasted great! I had a watermelon ice tea which was on the sweeter side, so if you'd like your ice teas and lemonades to be less sweet, it might be worth it to check with the staff beforehand.

Carnero Lounge is one of many locations under the lounges chain and offers a range of vegan options. It is located in the centre of town and therefore a safe option if, like me, you are underwhelmed by Derby centre’s lack of vegan restaurants. My favourites on the menu are the plant breakfast (available also to size up) and the vegan keema flatbread.

During our four day stay in Derby we came here like 5 times, breakfast, coffee, dinner, didn’t matter. Since Derby doesn’t have to offer too many vegan spots, this place with it’s nice choice of vegan food took care of nurturing us. I had the vegan cheese burger, the big vegan breakfast, tapas, various alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks, coffee - everything was consistently good and the staff thoroughly friendly.

Just amazing for breakfast options, the vegan English breakfast here is the best going. I do find the lunch and dinner menu to be a bit lacklustre being the common falafel, avocado or hummus options which aren't my favourite and I'm sick of having as an emergency go to as a vegan. Drinks are also super tasty, I love a caramel almond latte from here.

I tend to just east breakfast food as it's served all day long when I go just because the lunch and dinner options are very basic for vegan menu items

Generally I try to only visit vegan restaurants as I’d rather support local independent places that share my own ethics. Derby, however, has one vegan place (which I’ve visited) and thus felt I should visit an alternative.

I make all my friends come here all the time! Every time I go I try and have something new but I just can't not have the sweet potato and falafel burger with avocado and sweet potato fries and a virgin mojito! All my meat eating friends love it here too and I've recommended it to countless people. Its also rather cheap as it feels like you should be paying £15 for a meal rather than £8. Staff are lovely and its very clean. WOULD RECOMMEND!
