Unforgettable!!

We had the 15-course sushi kaiseki, and every single dish was a masterpiece. The thought and care that went into each course was evident. I can say without a doubt, this was the best meal I have ever had.

Each course was carefully and thoughtfully prepared and served by the owner and chef, Maeda, whose warmth and hospitality made the experience even more memorable. He is also an incredible artist, you will see his artwork hanging throughout the dining room.

10/10. I can’t recommend this restaurant more!!

A must!!

Our expectations were highly exceeded! This place was incredible. Each piece of sushi tasted so well thought out. The combination of flavors he put together on each dish just wowed us. Every bite of sushi filled our mouths with pure joy. The owner/chef was so nice. A very sweet man. I could not recommend this place enough. It was worth every yen!😄

Fantastic experience! 💚

Sushi-Kaiseki-Course ( 5.500¥ | 36$) per person

🍽️ 10 courses
🍣 15 individual servings
🍹🍸 Drinks not included!
⌚ Calculate 60-90min for dining

🍣🍙 Each made with passion an lots of flavor. It was great. The restaurant is reservation only on some days and therefore it is a really private atmosphere. We've been the only guests in the booked timeframe. You get the sense how much work each dish is by tasting the plenty of ingredients in each serving.

It has been a really nice alternative to the busy and packed places and restaurants we've visited the other days and weeks here in Japan.

❗Recommendation:
📆 It was not that easy navigating the website and booking the diner but we managed to do it using google translate in Chrome.

💡 Would recommend them to make the reservation easier for international visitors e.g. using reservations with OpenTable through Google.

Amazing vegan sushi tasting menu in Kyoto

Me and my husband ate here after a jam packed day in Kyoto, it was a taxi ride away from our hotel but it was so worth it! The best food I have eaten in Japan. The kaiseki course has 15 or 16 small plates served on beautiful Japanese lacquerware/plates. The owner made and served all the food himself with locally sourced produce and overall it was such a lovely experience and an honour to be eating food filled with such creativity and love! You need to make a reservation at least three days in advance so make sure to do that. Would recommend for all vegans visiting Kyoto!

Pros: Incredible food , Lovely atmosphere and wonderful owner , Beautifully presented and a real experience!

Cons: None

Hidden vegan gem in Kyoto!

Having been in Japan for a week, we were getting tired of having vegan ramen every day and wanted a change - Da Maeda's vegan sushi tasting menu hit the spot!

Made a reservation for a multi-course meal - restaurant was fully booked on Friday but we were able to get a reservation on Saturday night for 2. The owner (Mr. Maeda) served us the meal himself, and we could feel the love and care he puts into his food.

We had a lovely meal with 16 different items (sushi, soups and other traditional Japanese dishes). Loved the fried rice sushi as well as the gluten-free pasta dish. Each course had a unique collection of ingredients that challenged our palate as we ate. We finished with a raw chocolate cake for dessert - a wholesome change of pace from the over-sweetened Japanese sweets we've been having throughout our trip.

Would not hesitate to go back here if we were staying in Kyoto longer - hope this hidden gem gets the recognition it deserves!

Pros: Variety of dishes, Incredibly warm and loving owner

Thank you so much for disclosing the information. I want to transform traditional Japanese cuisine into a new style that fits the times and spread it. I am currently farming in Okayama Prefecture and building a local community. I am aiming for a zero waste life in the near future. I look forward to seeing you again.
