NOT vegan-friendly - Edit
We ordered a dish (Guvec Stew) that said “vegan” printed on the menu. The chatty owner came over to talk to us after dinner and casually mentioned the secret ingredient in the rice (that came with the stew) contained butter. He realized he messed up after he said it. It’s unfortunate because the stew was delicious but I cannot trust that the food they serve is actually vegan. Also, it’s seems of importance to note that we stated we were vegan when we made our reservations (they asked about dietary restrictions) and again when we ordered! So disappointing.

Great service, delicious food - Edit
We were a group of four and ordered two soups and then one of each starter. Everything was delicious and it was the perfect amount of food. The leeks were the stand-out dish but I also quite enjoyed the humus and ezme. I suppose I would skip the salad next time (it was a bit simple for $16.50 but enough for 4-5 people to each have a serving so that was good).
Read moreThe pre-made rice that comes as a side or with the stew is not vegan (prepared with butter). Our waiter said that if enough people complained about it they would consider not using butter anymore. So please mention it! We did not want the rice so they gave us extra pide. The rice in the leek dish is cooked fresh without butter.
A review in here said no vegan desserts but our server confirmed the sorbets are vegan (as are the turkish candy that come with the bill).
Pros: unique dishes, nice atmosphere, very knowledgeable staff
Cons: rice made with butter, serves flesh

Delicious vegan food - Edit
I was so pleased to find such a vegan-friendly restaurant. All the starters were vegan (although one did say it had cheese in it so be sure to check this if you order it) and the vegan main option was delicious! The staff were also very friendly.

What a magical evening - Edit
I was intrigued by the mention of this charming place in a VT newspaper, and am I glad we checked it out. From their greeting on the phone, to our service, to our chat with the owner, the hospitality was excellent! The food was incredible - the whole left side of the menu (all apps) is vegan (minus cheese in a salad and ask for oil instead of butter to top the hummus) so we ordered one of everything, foregoing the single large entree that's vegan (next time!). Everything gets fired in their brick oven, including the homemeade pide bread that goes with everything! The flavors were really terrific - the herbs on the red lentil soup, the golden crust on the warm hummus, the intense flavors of esme; we liked everything we ordered. It felt cozy and less antiseptic to be in a store, and it was clear that every worker was invested in providing excellent service and food.
