Salad bar was good

Typical pricey health food store, some of the sales are good. I do like their salad bar.

Pros: More local feel than Whole Foods

Cons: Expensive

some items missing

This store has a good produce section, but the only vegan cheese available was daiya, strange for a store of its kind in Asheville. They also had no raw vegan chocolate, and a poor selection of kale chips.

A little disappointing

I didn't take note of the dates on the other reviews and was expecting to be surrounded by a plethora of vegan muffins, cookies, and options on the hot bar... which is not what I got. There were two vegan options on the hot bar (and they weren't labeled as such I just read the ingredients) and one was just a Thai inspired veggie and tofu stir fry and the other was a plain veggie. There were no muffins, and two cookies an everything and a chocolate chip. And it's not like they were out of stuff, the case was fully stocked but just with non-vegan things. However, that being said the chocolate chip cookie was DELICIOUS, still soft and fluffy after sitting on my counter all day. The grocery section was decent, but I wouldn't say it was better than Whole Foods, I'd say WF typically has more vegan alternatives but they did have more local options.

Pros: delicious cookies, nice staff, easy parking

Cons: lack of "hot" options, small

When we travel

When we travel we stop at this Earthfare and all of dining needs are met. It is a grocery store so no wait staff. More like cafeteria dining. The healthy/organic food is the draw.

Pros: travel friendly, great food, huge selection

Cons: cafeteria style

Like the breakfast hot bar...

I love organic grocery stores and this is a great one, but the main reason I like going to Earth Fare is for the hot breakfast bar. My husband and I are vegan and have found many vegan options on the breakfast bar...on the weekend. We recently visited Asheville during the week and found that there are not as many vegan options on the bar on a weekday as on the weekend, specifically vegan biscuits. We asked about them and were told that they are only made on the weekend. But they do usually have vegan sausage and home fries all the time.

The deli does offer some vegan options at lunchtime, such as vegan BBQ tofu. The bakery had vegan chocolate chip cookies the last time we went.

Earth Fare is definitely worth a visit.

Pros: vegan options, hot breakfast bar, clean

Yummy Food Bar

I live in Georgia, so I'm familiar with the Earth Fare in Athens. The one we visit in Asheville is the original. We love to eat at the food bar. Last time we visited, I had the seiten loaf, and I must say it was EXCELLENT!!! The other food was great too, and I was impressed that you offered vegan biscuits.

Pros: Food, Options, Selection

Cons: A little pricy
