Drowning in food - Edit
Went down to Toledo for a vegan meetup at El Tipico Restaurant
Read moreWe felt very spoiled to be in a place that served vegan queso blanco, cheese, and sour cream. They offered grilled veggies, mexican potatoes, and pea protein crumbles as fillings for many of their dishes. Also was super excited to have dishes with mole too.
There were so many options available it was almost paralyzing 🤯
Pictured are the mexican pizza, enchilada mole with, chimichanga with verde sauce, super burro with mole, pappas mexicanas (potatoes cooked with tomatoes).

Looks awesome! I’d really like to check this out when I am in town. Is this a brick-and-mortar restaurant or a catering kitchen? If it’s a restaurant I think we should change how it is described on HapoyCow because I completely looked over this place.

Yummy food with tons of vegan meals - Edit
This is a great Mexican restaurant and the best part is nearly all of the meals on the menu can be veganized. You can customize the filling. They have vegan cheese and vegan sour cream. The staff were also very nice. I've eaten here a few times over the years when I've been in town. I tried the enchilada topped with Violife cheese and filled with bell pepper and onion and Violife cheese. Refried beans and Mexican rice were on the side.

Very vegan-friendly! - Edit
I've eaten here twice with my nonvegetarian sibling, and both times impressed me. There were many vegan options, including with plant-based cheese and meat, and I had trouble deciding. We both ended up with burritos with pea protein crumbles, enchiladas with vegan cheese, refried beans, rice, and, for dessert, a decadent chocolate chimichanga with chocolate sauce. In addition, the atmosphere was nice, and the servers and management were very friendly.

Meh. - Edit
I was super excited to eat here because most places don’t have vegan tamales. But… it was dry and fell apart. It was sad. The salsa was okay but it was all slushy which was odd… it seemed like it was too close to the back of the fridge and started to freeze. The guac had no flavor. No garlic no lime no salt no jalapeños. Nothing. 3 stars because it’s organic but that’s it.
Read moreI also had to pay extra for chips which I thought was weird since I ordered quac and salsa. I probably won’t come here again since I can get beans and rice anywhere and better guac. And *free* chips and salsa. I spent $43 on food and was pretty disappointed since I wanted to try a little of everything.
I also got the Mexican pizza with Diya cheese. If I did come back I’d get that again but nothing else.

Dear Meh, thank you for your review. We are sad that you did not have a good experience. We make our tamales in house and a dry tamale is not what we would want you to experience. If you decide to give us another opportunity, please ask for Dina. I would very much like to meet you. Our Guacamole is made with avocado, tomatoes & sea salt. Because we have patrons with many different dietary needs, we offer onions, jalapenos, lime or lettuce on the side. This allows you to add to your liking. Our complimentary salsas, both the mild & hot are raw & organic. We do not cook our salsas in order to retain the nutrients & freshness. As we have done for 55 years. Perhaps this is why it seemed slushy to you. We give one complimentary basket of chips and yes, your guacamole dip comes with chips unless you ordered only a side cup of guacamole. We do not serve Daiya cheese, we only use Violife cheese because we have found it to be a better quality for our patrons. I sincerely hope you give us another opportunity. Thank you again for your observations, all reviews help us to improve.

1 million stars! - Edit
The HappyCow app only lets you give five stars to fully vegan or vegetarian restaurants. But you can get anything on the menu made vegan here and I would give it 1 million stars if I could! Best salsa I've ever had in my life. Amazing vegan taco dinner. The owner and staff are a complete delight. Clearly food is their love language. I live far far away from Toledo but El Tipico is my new favorite restaurant. I will be coming here anytime a road trip brings me near Toledo.

“If you like it, we can make it vegan!” They have kite hill sour cream and Violife cheese. Rotating to ales and vegetables and great service!! No hidden animal ingredients — very knowledgeable and a great place to eat!

Entire menu is availble vegan and organic! - Edit
Friendly service, delicious food. Enchiladas have 4 vegan sauces to choose from and they offer Violife cheese. The food was made fresh with organic ingredients. They've been offering vegan for 54 years. Their menu is also entirely gluten free if you exchange the flour tortilla for corn or gluten free tortillas.
