it’s fine - Edit
The food was fine and the place is nice, but the experience was too long in my opinion. We ordered the 5 course prix fixe tasting menu and it took 3.5 hours. We ordered the non-alcoholic pairing and the food would come out at least 30 min after the sommelier would bring us the drink that’s supposed to be paired with that food.
Read moreAlso our waiter was weird/rude. He never introduced himself, so after a few times he came over I said “I’m sorry, I didn’t catch your name” and he told me his name, but then asked for mine? That was a bit odd. He also asked if we had any allergies, but then couldn’t remember what we told him and had to ask us again an hour later (which for a place that calls itself “semi-private dining” seemed unprofessional, especially since our answer wasn’t long, it was just “no allergies”). And when I asked him about the restaurant, specially if it was the only location, he said “yes, but she also owns a catering company, which serves normal food like beef and chicken.” Ok…so I’m paying $200/person for dinner and drinks to be served excruciatingly slowly by someone who looks down on vegans…
So I don’t think I’ll be going back there. If you want a fancy vegan dinner, skip Elizabeth’s and go to Mita.

Exceptional Experience, Highly Recommend - Edit
The historic gas lamp flickering light along the way up the beautiful stairs & entering through the solid oak door into another world must be how it felt to go through the wardrobe into Narnia! It’s as if you enter into an old master painting & become part of the scene. The romantic ambiance envelops you with the soft lighting making the onyx bar shimmer & the dark wood tones warm the intimate space draw you in. The rarity of such an exquisite dining experience makes this date night an exceptionally memorable one.
Read moreSeated at a linen clothed table & napkins along with spotless sparkling glasses vintage cuts, real candle light, & French silver cutlery laid out in perfect form & comfortable chairs in a room with soft peachy overtones that makes everyone look good, a chandelier, old master paintings on the wall felt like you are in an elegant private salon. We felt so well cared for & treated there by everyone. The service was exceptional. The attention to detail & engagement of the senses outstanding & heightened the overall experience.
The culinary performance was worthy of Michelin stars. It exceeded all expectations in presentation, flavors & tastes, seasonal creativity & pairings & textures. The food engaged all the senses & was paced at a leisurely rate to thoroughly enjoy & savor every single bite or sip of the non-alcoholic pairings.
We heard about Elizabeth’s from the International Conference on Nutrition in Medicine where top global nutrition experts Dr Neal Barnard, Dr Michael Greger, Dr Kristi Funk, among others herald the power of plant based eating to prevent & reverse disease optimizing health, wellbeing & longevity with every antioxidant bite of food. Transforming to a plant based lifestyle for our health, the sanctity of animals & the planet is a valued choice that becomes rewardingly affirming with exceptional restaurants like Elizabeth’s that offer such a remarkable & tantilizing experience.
Thank you so very much to everyone at Elizabeth’s. Elizabeth’s is a truly exceptional place & I highly recommend it to everyone.

Fancy place - Edit
One of the nicest restaurants I’ve been to. It’s a very elegant vibe and that almost seems to take priority over the food. The dishes are more simply prepared than at similar places (e.g. seemingly less salty, etc).

Restaurant like no other - Edit
This is more than fine dining, this is an event. You've never had food like this in your life. It can be a lengthy dining transaction but you should be savoring every moment and every bite. It's a tasting menu and if you're not used to spending big bucks you better start saving up because it's going to be worth it lol.staff attentive friendly and knowledgeable.

Each time I go to Elizabeth’s, it’s better than the last. Their sommeliers are top-notch. I’ve tried their alcohol pairing several times, but recently opted for the nonalcoholic pairing. There was one nonalcoholic pairing I will remember for the rest of my life because it was that delicious.

Lucky find - Edit
After seeing Elizabeth’s sign from the DC design center window across the street, we checked online for vegan options. We were delighted to find it was a vegan restaurant and with early reservation still available! None of the experience disappointed. The greeting at the door by the owner, the ambiance, the service and the amazingly creative prix fix menu that evening. The presentation and the flavors were beyond creative, and as delicious as they looked. We will make it a point to return next time we come to town.

Beyond our expectations - Edit
We dined there on a Saturday evening to celebrate our anniversary. Everything went beyond our expectations. The ambiance was beautiful, the food was delicious, with creative ingredients, and beautifully prepared and presented, the service was top notch - while it is pricey, it's worth it. I highly recommend Elizabeth's, especially if you are looking for a nice evening out or to celebrate a special occasion. It's a fixed price menu, with a couple add ons. We tried the vegan cheese plate and a couple drinks, and so glad we did.

The whole package of fine vegan dining - Edit
The restaurant is in a beautiful townhouse with many portraits from the 18th and 19th centuries hung throughout the dining and entrance areas. When we asked about the art, Elizabeth, who was on the floor greeting guests, gave us some interesting info.

Amazing unique experience - Edit
Every dish clearly had so much thought and technique put into it. The early courses are are on the small "tasting" side and I def wish I could have more of them especially the "smoked salmon" one, but they later courses become more normal sized portions so that you're full by the end.
Read moreWe also had the Cheese platter which was worth sharing among 4 at $40 but the only thing that really stood out was the fig jam. The cheeses are made in house we're told but they all were really mild flavored. I'd even recommend savoring them without the provided crackers/plantains, though the plaintains do add some salt.
If you go just for the prix fixe menu it's probably going to run you $150 with tax/tip, given how much even fast food vegan is now, that's not far off from several burgers.
It was also nice to see Elizabeth working the floor to the point that she removed dirty dishes from our table and we weren't quite sure if that was her or not :)
Pros: Unique dishes, great technique
