Definitely worth the drive - Edit
I picked up their adult mac & cheese and a mint cookie milkshake and both were great. The portions are fairly large as well. They’re still doing curbside pickup only, so call ahead!

Amazing - Edit
I’ve been going here since before they went fully vegan. Now I’m fully vegan too! I love bringing my friends who are carnists here to celebrate my birthday. I love ordering a bunch of items and sharing them with my friends. But if I don’t do it that way I always get an appetizer, entree, and dessert. All amazing. I prefer less processed and there’s something for everyone here. I’m also cheap so I definitely prefer brunch. The dinner entrees are mostly $18 .

The perfect vegan date spot. - Edit
My partner and I always go to Great Sage on special occasions. For the past two years we visited Great Sage on Valentine's Day and both times the food and service did not disappoint. The food is phenomenal and one of the only places in the area that serves a vegan high dinning experience. I am soy and gluten intolerant AND vegan so it can be really difficult to eat out, but Great Sage has clear menu markings for substitutions and dietary restrictions. If you haven't tried it and are vegan, you are seriously missing out!

Super good, high quality but a little starchy and pricey - Edit
Unsure of whether or not there was seating we took our food to go and ended up sitting at the nearby commons food hall - but they did have outdoor seating during covid so that’s a plus.
Read moreWe got the artichoke and spinach dip which was a lot of artichoke and very lemony. I will say it is good but definitely eat it while it’s hot and don’t save it for later/next day. Definitely not for anyone that doesn’t love artichokes.
I got the “crab cake” made from hearts of palm over the medley of veggies. Absolutely excellent and filling, I could barely finish the meal. The hearts of palm were shredded together and tossed nicely with a remoulade.
My partner got the adult Mac and cheese which was delicious, the top was cooked to the point of having a nice crust - very flavorful and different.
We also got the “tres leches cake” which was less a cake and more like a strawberry shortcake. With the “milk” and cream and a biscuit. Really good and light, doesn’t make you feel gross for eating it.
Finally the next day we had tried the s’mores cookie which was just OK, nothing to write home about
Pros: Fully vegan , High quality ingredients, Somewhat health conscious
Cons: A little expensive , A lot of starch in the menu items, Cookie wasn’t that delicious

Vegan sit downs are hard to find! - Edit
It is so nice that Great Sage is a fully vegan sit down restaurant. Their food is always awesome and it’s nice having a Roots next door. I wish they had a location closer to DC and I would go much more often! I try to find an excuse to go to Columbia whenever possible for Great Sage.

I have been dining here so long back when in 2011 they use to be a vegetarian restaurant. I love this vegan gem of a place.

My favorites: Funfetti Cookie with a scoop of ice cream on top.

Chicken Sandwich with honee mustard sauce with coleslaw.
They change the menu with the seasons, plus vegan resturant week and specials.
Non vegans are impressed. People would always check out my food and ask me what did you get. A variety of people from hippies to business people.
A lot of love in that place.
Pros: Kind people, Yummy food, Awesome service
Cons: limited seating now outside , No more regular plates, no more silverware

So insanely good I am remorseful our meal is over. We live a good 1/2 hour away so it's an adventure to visit and completely worth it. We had the vegan Crabcake Sandwich with Slaw and the Vegan Burger with fries and split them. Words elude me...their food is just so good. Enjoy!

Solid menu selection for PB eaters. - Edit
Scheduled a lunch meeting here with a friend from Chicago. I’m plant-based but he is not. Love the ambience inside of the café. Menu has a great selection of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and entrées. Just the right amount of options for each category. I get a little concerned when I see too big of a menu in a plant-based café and these guys nailed it!

So far they have come - Edit
I remember before they had gone vegan and I had something and it wasn't so good and then went back and was about to write them off but once they went vegan the food improved greatly and the many times I have gone back I can say it is almost always been top notch. There are occasional dishes that could be refined a bit more but the classics are always delicious.
Read moreIf you are new here get the Spinach Artichoke dip for sure and the Chocolate Lava Cake. Also if you are into alcoholic beverages they do some pretty nifty cocktails and if not they have other delicious drinks that are not alcoholic but still great.
Staff is also generally quite friendly and if you have to wait you can go into Nest or Roots and hang for a bit.
Pros: Delicious Food, Vegan, Friendly Staff
Cons: Prices are not cheap, Some dishes on occasion could use some refinement

This place is a delight, just watch out for certain dishes - Edit
I LOVE Great Sage. It's the only all-vegan place in the area where I feel comfortable dressing up a little bit and going to have a plant-based meal on the fancier side. The location is not convenient, that's for sure - but pairing a meal with a shopping visit to Roots Market next door, and to the Conscious Corner gift/clothing store in the plaza, makes it more worth the drive.
Read moreI think Great Sage has some really fantastic dishes on their menu, such as (subject to change) the pierogi quesadilla, the root vegetable phyllo tart that has popped on their seasonal menus, the nachos (with homemade vegan cheeze sauce), and their pesto lettuce wraps. I did NOT enjoy the spinach artichoke dip or adult mac n' cheese. The nachos are made with such a lovely homemade cheeze, but the dip and the mac are made with some kind of foul plasticky commercial cheese that tastes awful. Basically everything I've had that did NOT contain commercial cheese has been wonderful. So my recommendation would be simply to avoid those dishes.
The service has always been fantastic at Great Sage and they usually have a great selection of desserts as well. I think it's highly worth a visit as long as you choose carefully from the menu!
Pros: Creative menu, changes seasonally, 100% vegan, Good ambiance and service
Cons: Location - middle of nowhere, Several dishes ruined by commercial cheese sub

Yummy food - Edit
Restaurant cozy clean staff nice with knowledge of menu my hibby got blueberry pancakes I got am omelette both dishes were $15 which is little pricey for 2 pancakes after eating I decided to get a smoothie to go I thought it seemed a little light when I picked it up... that's because it was all foam... I went to a little boutique next door while shopping I looked down at my smoothie and realized all the foam settled and the smoothie was the consistency of juice which prob totaled about 6 ounces if that and it was $8 not happy with that at all
Read morePros: Fresh delicious vegan food

If you like your food spicy you'll love it ...if not you won't. Even when they say oh it's not spicy(cause they have no taste buds) it is. Sad for those who like to taste their food. Not everyone likes spices and black pepper😥 Everything tastes the same...be creative!

I've been wanting to come here for over a year, and I finally got around to it. The staff was super friendly and the food was amazing! We got the adult vegan mac, which tasted different than what I was expecting but I wasn't mad about it. The chocolate lava cake was to die for though! The whole shopping center is super cute and worth the visit.

We stopped to eat at Great Sage after visiting the Burleigh Manor animal sanctuary. We got the spinach artichoke dip, which was surprising convincing and delicious. My wife had the adult mac and I had the spanakopita, both dishes were very unique and tasty. Recommend to anyone wanting to try interesting vegan food.
