Tasty and great options

This lovely little family owned cafe had so many vegan options available (including chilli, quesadilla, sandwiches, toasties, soup and more) as well as several vegan cakes and alternative milks. They even had vegan mayo and coleslaw which I eas really pleased about as normally it's something you just have to take off your meal. Had a delicious oat hot chocolate with dark chocolate buttons on the side and the toasties and salad were so tasty. Great value, great location after a long walk, good service and tasty food, 5 stars from me!

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Great service, Delicious food!

Good vegan options

This was a great find in Grasmere. The staff were friendly and helpful and communicated the flexible vegan options in a clear and reassuring manner. On the day both soups were vegan and it was possible to have vegan sandwiches and toasties, with lovely vegan coleslaw. The 'very veggie wrap' was tasty and the variety of hummus options was a nice touch. Would recommend.

Pros: Tasty options, Friendly and helpful staff, Dog friendly

A warm welcome and tasty food

Staff very welcoming, and child friendly too. On arrival My daughter emptied a puddle from her puddle suit onto the floor, I was so mortified but the staff were really understanding!
There were plenty of well labelled vegan options on the menu. I had a hot chocolate and a soup. The bread roll was warm too and delicious. Staff were very knowledgable about vegan options and provided me vegan chocolate on the side of my hot choc and also informed me (without prompting) the spread with the bread roll was vegan too. Would definitely come back.
My daughter hd a milkshake and kids meal, the bill came to £18 something. I would love to go back and have the sticky toffee pudding or brownie, I just didn’t have room!

Pros: Friendly staff , excellent service , Tasty food

Cons: Would have loved some vegan whipped cream on , Extra for non dairy milk (30p)

Great food :)

Quite a few vegan options for both food and drinks. I had the buddha bowl and a vegan vanilla ice cream shake and would highly recommend both! My partner had the vegan sausage baguette and a sparkling blueberry drink - he said it was good and very generous portions.
Great location right on the Grasmere village green and friendly staff as well :)

Fantastic food

Arrived at grasmere needed food found this little cafe they had a selection of cakes and drinks available for vegans I went with the chocolate brownie and a chocolate milkshake. I was impressed with the selection they had and that i had more then one vegan option which is very rare. I saw they had a vegan breakfast option but had paid for breakfast at the hotel I was staying in but two days of shocking service and food I went to greens. The breakfast was amazing and the tofu scramble was the best I have had. They also had a selection of lunches and snacks that have vegan options.

Breakfast at Green's

We had a lovely vegan breakfast here. Two sausages, scrambled tofu, mushrooms, tomato and toast. A refreshing smoothy too. A great place to get the calories back in after a run in the hills.

Great find for vegans and non-vegans

So nice as a vegan to have a choice rather than just one option. Great and filling salad - didn’t have room to try the cupcakes sadly.

Great choices

Headed here looking for some brunch. Wasn’t sure that Grasmere would have much to offer in the form of vegan options. How wrong I was! So many options, just a shame I didn’t have time to try them all. Sausage baguette with onion chutney done the treat! Will be coming back for some lunch soon.

Pros: Lots of vegans options, Lovely friendly staff, Large filling meal

Fabulous Find!

The options on the menu here are great! Really wide range of options! Most things are available as vegan, from full English breakfasts to toad in the hole to Shepard’s pie. Two fabulous vegan soups to choose from with warm bread and soya based spread! Nice touch!
Great range of teas and coffees and they also have a vegan gluten free sticky toffee pudding! Fantastic!
And the staff are so kind and welcoming, really want to help you and give fabulous service!
Came here last year and will be back on my next trip!!!!

Pros: Diverse menu choices, friendly atmosphere (and dog friendly), very tasty food

Cons: Can’t think of any :)

good vegan selection in Grasmere

Noticeably decent selection of vegan options from soups to sausage rolls to larger meals plus vegan brownies and other cakes. If you are heading off walking for the day it’s a good place to get a takeaway vegan sandwich such a as a sausage baguette (Linda McCartney sausages)

Okay Lunch

Me and my mother came to Grasmere for a day trip out from Furness and the cafe was very easy to find in the heart of the village. When we arrived it was full inside and had to sit inside, but it wasn't the warmest day so as soon as someone left from inside we hopped onto their table. The interior is quite old fashioned but still nice and cosy.

The menu does serve meat but vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options are labelled very clearly.

I ordered a hummus and vegetable toastie, and a waiter came to ask me if I wanted butter on the toastie so I clarified I was vegan. I'm glad they asked of course, but seeing as that option is labelled vegan you'd think they wouldn't need to do that. Oh well.

It came with some mango chutney, salad and a few crisps, looked pretty nice, and tasted pretty nice. That cost £6.95, so decent value I guess.

Then we also decided to get a pudding, so I got the vegan sticky toffee pudding, which came with a good helping of swedish glace ice cream. I haven't had sticky toffee pudding in a loong time, it was my favourite as a child, and this one was meh, alright. Definitely not worth £6.25, almost as much as my toastie, and my mum got a bakewell tart (not vegan) which cost £6.50 even though it didn't come with any icecream or anything.

I looked at the cake stand at the front but none of them were labelled as vegan so I figured none were.

So overall an OK lunch.

Pros: Options clearly labelled, Good service, Okay food

Cons: Expensive puddings, no vegan cakes?, serves meat

Vegan Options By The Bucket Load

Greens Cafe & Bistro is in the lovely village of Grasmere and they cater for every kind of diet, so vegans are welcome.

We were lucky to get a table and first impressions always count, so when my coffee was served and I was placing my food order and mentioned vegan, the chap took my coffee away and brought it back, replacing the shortbread, with two dairy free vegan chocolates. How is that for attention to detail.

I chose a jacket potato with spicy houmous, salad and mango chutney dressing. I love a good jacket potato and with the big dollop of spicy houmous, I was a happy vegan, made even happier, when I bought a takeaway lime and coconut cupcake, to have later. The cupcake was delicious, with a really zesty lime flavour and plenty of icing on the top. Definitely one to remember when next in Grasmere.

Pros: Vegan Options, Vegan Cakes, Very accommodating

Friendly, vegan friendly haven in the Lakes

We were so relieved to find this super eatery in the Lakes. It does serve non-veggie fare but has plenty of vegan options (on the menu was a couple of salads, bean and ale pie, bangers and mash, soups, sausage rolls, cakes and sundaes - the things I can remember!)

I had Green's platter - a super salad with hummus, quinoa, sun-dried toms, seeds, nut, blue berries, strawberries, pear, olives, lettuce and lovely bread. It was very nice. Husband had the sausage roll which came with a side salad. We saved room for a dessert - shared an ice-cream sundae - chocolate brownie (yum) with vanilla ice-cream and fruit. (pictures attached)

Pros: Good options, Lovely location , Friendly atmosphere

Cons: Serves meat
