Beautiful atmosphere and great food

Very beautiful restaurant with an amazing atmosphere. They have several vegetarian options and our waitress had a good understanding of veganism. She explained that all pasta contains egg but that they could make a risotto or I could take the clearly labeled vegan dish on their menu: vegan patty with curry and vegetables, which I did. It did not disappoint and was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend trying it. Non-vegans have many great options there as well. Would definitely go again and recommend it!

Very good truffle pasta - ask for making it vegan

I had the truffle pasta since i wanted to try this traditional dish, and they can make it vegan upon request.

The menu went more expensive since the previous posted pictures ! Count 17€ for the pasta, and 14-20€ for the other vegan dishes.

Pros: Many of vegan options, Very tasty, Made fresh and customizable

Cons: A bit pricey

Good food, great wine!

The menu states vegan options, but they also do a vegan gnocchi and vegan truffle pasta. Looks creamy, but it's vegan! The waiter recommended it, so always check again before you order. :)

Pros: Vegan truffle sauce, Great, local wine.

Cons: Serves non-vegan dishes

Delicious meal!

At Groppo we were very kindly helped and they really thought along! There are, however, few vegan options. I couldn't take the vegetarian pasta because the pasta has egg in it, but instead they could make it with rice. The bruschetta was also made vegan and was tasty. Definitely recommended!😊

Delicious!

Had some lovely pasta, veg, chips and bread in a lovely setting with nice music. Staff very friendly. They said we can put together random item on the menu too to create another vegan dish (some options already available). Would defs recommend!

Don’t Care Won’t Care

Disappointed. No interest at all. Waiter told me just the one option that is it. Just a salad. I asked about other options and shred my vegan translation. Couldn’t care less. Waved me goodbye.

Cons: One option. , Expensive. , Disinterested.

Only salad

When asked if they had vegan options, they said they only had a salad and then proceeded to question us about our lifestyle, pretty much saying it was pointless. Ended up leaving.

Groppo

We ate at this restaurant recently and it was one of the 3 options in Zadar for us due to being gluten free vegans.
Vegan salad is not very filling considering it is a main course clearly tagged as vegan.
We had grilled veggies (small portions) and roasted potatoes which were very good. Olives were nice too. Staff was ok. It was quite busy so we waited about and hour for our meal.
Only thing close to fine dinning that has vegan that we found in Zadar. Overall quite good.

Pros: Decent service, Nice ambient, Few vegan choices

Cons: Noisy, Very busy in the evening

Nichts für Veganer

Es gibt lediglich einen Veganen Salat.
3 Vegetarische Gerichte und nichts für Kinder.
Das Essen selbst (Pasta Tricolore, Carbonara und Veganer Salat)war auch nicht gut.

Good vegan options

I had the pasta with tomatoes and olives (I believe it also had pesto) my first night in Croatia. It was a lovely dish and I would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Does the job

One of the nicer veg-friendly options in Zadar during low season. Vegetarian/vegan options are limited but clearly marked. I had the pasta tricolore which was tasty but a bit boring and quite oily.

Staff were friendly. Like everywhere in the old town, the place clearly caters to tourists, but there were Croatians eating there too and it didn’t feel like a total tourist trap.

Pros: Options clearly marked, You needn’t leave hungry

Cons: Unremarkable

Touristic restaurant with unfriendly staff

We did NOT feel well and welcomed because of the unfriendly staff. We were the only table who got ugly white and thick glasses looking like candlelights (everyone else was older than us and got pretty ones). The Restaurant is very touristic, the menu is written in all languages. Some vegan options are available, I ate the "bruschetta verde" which was okay. But generally, all of the dishes were uncreative and unsatisfactory because they are not whole plant based meals.

Pros: vegan food is well marked

Cons: Unwelcoming, unsatisfactory, expensive

Amazing truffle gnocchi

One of just a couple places in Zadar with a dedicated vegan section on the menu, with four things. However their whole menu has great allergy notes so we were able to find other dishes that were effectively vegan or could be adjusted easily. We tried to order the truffle gnocchi (and hold the veal) but the waiter actually priced it for us as the plain gnocchi side plus truffle sauce (which had no animal products and was olive oil based) so that we didn't have to pay the higher price. It. Was. Amazing. Seriously. Really good Zadar truffle sauce and homemade gnocchi from that morning.

We also had the bruschetta and the mushroom soup which were both really good.

This place does serve veal along with other types of meat which I really don't like, but the food is great and the service was quick and very accommodating. It's also really nice and central to old Town, the couple other vegan-friendly places we went were good but a little away from the main squares which can be nice depending on your mood. Would go here again and order the same thing if we had another night in Zadar.

Pros: Separate vegan section on menu

Exceptional

Some of the best vegan food I've had at a non-vegan place. The menu was extremely clearly marked with a vegan section, and better yet every other dish indicated whether it had eggs, milk, or gluten. They were also very accommodating about modifications. They made me the veal and truffle gnocchi without dairy or veal and it was AMAZING. I want to go back and order that same dish again.

Lovely Vegan options!

Really nice location, comfortable outdoor seating with air-con. Really good vegan options, with a menu of about 5 main course dishes and vegan friendly bread. The staff here are all really helpful and knowledgeable about what is and isn't vegan. I opted for a vegan homemade pasta with pesto and vegetables - really tasty! :)

Pros: Knowledgeable staff , Lovely seating area with air-con, A vegan specific menu

Cons: Lots of meat dishes served , Not huge choices, No desserts :(

Vegan/vegetarian options

I ordered mushroom soup and it was very oily. I mostly ate my Swiss chars side and had a bit of the soup. My husband’s olive bowl and caprese salad seemed better.

Pros: Enough vegan options , Nice atmosphere , Vegan items listed on menu

Cons: Oily mushroom soup

Decent vegan food

This is the only place I’ve found in Zadar, other than the raw food restaurant, that has vegan items marked on the menu. There are only 4, and one of them is a salad, but after only having bread, fruit, and bland greens as options, this was delicious. I got the mushroom soup and vegan bruschetta, and it was really filling and overall a good meal for about 70 kuna. It’s also a nice date spot!

Pros: Clearly-marked vegan options

Cons: Food was a little bland and needed salt

Interesting find

We found this restaurant by chance and I was surprised about the vegan section. So we gave it a try and I wasn't disappointed, the vegan mushroom soup was good, although missing a bit of salt. But the small mushrooms in the soup were amazing!
Overall it was nice, the staff was friendly and the atmosphere pleasant.
