Non-veg Middle-Eastern grocery store near Meidai University. Sells some vegan-suitable items not found elsewhere in Japan such as: tempeh, dates, figs, bulk nuts, dried bulk legumes, coconut oil, plus Mediterranean jams, preserves, canned hummus, frozen samosa, and even vegan wafer cookies from Brazil.

Cheap ingredients that vegans use all the time - Edit
Love this place for buying cooking ingredients that you might be able to find at a supermarket for 2-3 times the price. Lentils, kidney beans, coconut milk and cream, lots of spices for great prices. They also have vegan and vegetarian samosas, spring rolls and pita bread.

Good dates - Edit
This place is questionable why it is listed on HappyCow as it is Halal shop...
Read moreBut they do have probably the best dates in Nagoya.
I have been buying dates in Tokyo by a lovely Iranian man (Darvish Shop), and this place is the other side of town, I have only gone there once.
It is well organized and clean.
I now buy things that they carry such as tahini, sesami, dried nuts at iherb (online) so don't think I will return there (one click vs. traveling for more than 40 min).
It is a good option to have in city though.

Dried beans, bulk spices, and much more!! - Edit
I simply love this place, the owner is super kind and friendly every time I go. There is a really good variety of foreign foods here, even which would be hard to find in canada, like stuffed grape leaves and pickled lemons. They also carry bulk dates, bulk spices and really cheap dried legumes! I think a kilo of lentils is about 3-400 yen. The best part is the cheap brazilian cookies they carry. Some of them are vegan which is fantastic as it's almost impossible to find vegan cookies (let alone crackers) in Japan.
Read moreYes they do carry a lot of meat (in the freezers) but there is a ton of vegan food there too.
Pros: Tempeh, samosas, and lentils, Cookies, nuts, and dates, Superb service
Cons: They sell meat and dairy products
