The best he's ever had! 😋🍨🍧 - Edit
This place is so special! We’ve been to Mendoza many times and a trip to Famiglia Perin is always top of your list. Although they’re not completely vegan, all of their sorbets are water based (sabores al agua) so suitable for vegans and the best part is that they have some pretty innovative sorbet flavours that I’ve ever tried, all made from completely fresh ingredients.
Read moreThe staff here were really helpful and the owners super friendly. They even came around the counter to talk to us about their ice creams and sorbets when they heard me mention I was vegan the first time we found them.
Sometimes when I go to a non-vegan ice cream shop and they just have sorbets as the vegan option, that usually leaves me a bit disappointed because of how artificial they often taste. That wasn’t the case here. You really taste the true flavours of the fruit they use and everything we tried was incredible (and I don’t use that word lightly).
We tried the melon, tangerine/pomelo, kiwi, lemon, pineapple, passion fruit, cinnamon, and the pear with malbec sorbets (not all in one sitting). They even have a vegan chocolate sorbet that we both found different and really enjoyable. For the vegetarians, they also have an extensive selection of ice creams that they make in small batches, with cookie crumbs, sauces and sprinkles like you'd expect. My boyfriend maintains to this day that they have to be “the best ice creams and sorbets” he’s ever had. So good in fact that we don’t have any photos of us eating them (we just stayed in the moment and enjoyed the experience).
Now, depending on who you ask in Mendoza, they’ll either swear by Famiglia Perin or Ferruccio Soppelsa - Emilio Civit (on the adjacent corner) which we also tried. The vegan options there were ummm…lacking in our opinion and just didn’t have that mouthwatering, full-of-flavour experience that you get at Famiglia Perin, so if they’re open when you’re there, you have to check them out. You won’t regret it!
Pros: 🥝 Really fresh innovative, seasonal flavours used, 🪙 The prices here were surprisingly reasonable , 🕐 They're open until 1am 7 days a week!
Cons: 🍦 Cones not suitable for vegans (last we checked), 🏪🚫😢 They DO close for holidays. See beforehand
