Loooved it!! - Edit
The serving sizes were really good on the "larger" side of the menu (the "smaller" side is definitely just the size of an entree)
Read moreAt least 5 or 6 vegan options which were all VERY tasty, and an extensive menu of mocktails along with the cocktails which was nice.

Heaps of options - Edit
There's lots of options for vegans on this menu which is so great. I think both times I've been I've got the stir-fried veggies and tofu and this time I didn't love it as much, but it was obviously good enough the first time to go back for more! Love the roti, looooove the tofu bao buns and love the alcohol-free cocktails!

Great food - Edit
Súper tasty food, I arrived with very little expectations and I was surprised by the variety of options and the flavours. I eat the vegan duck crisp wontons and the panang curry. The portions are big as well so it’s really worth it. Good service, and great food.

Overall good - Edit
I am not blown away by the food, but overall good.
Read moreNice to have vegan duck as mock meat so had to try. The sweet and sour vegan duck is a huge portion. Duck was stunning. Dish itself was too sweet for my liking and therefore quite heavy.
I’d rather say it’s Asian -western fusion rather than anything authentic
I love the vibe all in Pink and like a hip bar. Outside seating possible
Some staff were friendly, but seemed very rushed even though there were only 3 other tables occupied- not anything special. They have a “feed me” option for 45pp lunch which consists of 2 mains, 2 starters and one side. Dishes are more expensive than other places (28$). What bothered me was that the dish of my friend arrived 5-10 min before mine and they didn’t say anything at all - no apologies or any comment. Just ran off again. Dishes don’t come with rice which is fine with me
Overall good, but not sure if I wanna go back.
Pros: Many Vegan options , Duck texture
Cons: Too sweet and heavy , Service , Expensive

Flavourful - Edit
We took the "feed me now" option for 3. Had betel leaf bites, vg duck wraps, rice paper rolls, sweet sour vg duck, cashew stir-fry, vg calamari salad. Everything was super tasty, seemed more Cantonese than Vietnamese.

One of my favourites! - Edit
Hochi mama is lovely. I love the vibe and the hustle. Great food. They have a deal for 2: little over 40 dollars per person for 2 big plates, 2 smaller and 1 side. Portions are huge! Everything is so good. Especially rice paper rolls (the dipping sauce!!), baos and duck.

Weird vibe but I dig it - Edit
The food is all the classic vegan options at a non vegan restaurant and they do them well. Gets pretty busy at lunch though.

Beautiful interior and delicious food - Edit
Super lively, arty interior design and fun atmosphere. Great for lunch with friends and/or family. I had the vegan rice paper rolls for entree and the Chinese broccoli with tofu and Vietnamese slaw. Super fresh and really tasty. They do it well!

Tasty, interesting and lots of veggies - Edit
We decided to go for the 'Me Hungry Now' course, which allowed us to try many of the exciting and beautiful looking dishes. I love when restaurants have heaps of veggies options instead of relying on mock meats and carbs. You can read my full review and see all the dishes I tried, in my blog post https://cookingwithyoshiko.com/hochi-mama-vegan-vietnamese-in-melbourne/

A number of vegan options. Peking duck pancake, rice paper rolls, Banana blossom fish, curry and a dessert pancake. I had the Southside Curry and it was delicious! Friendly staff.

Don’t trust they understand vegan - Edit
I used to work there and they will tell you items are vegan/vegetarian when they aren’t. The tofu bao is listed as vegetarian but had kimchi containing anchovy in. I went for dinner recently and ordered a vegan menu with the exception of the bao (my friends eat vego) and when they put them down said vegan baos they had removed the mayo but the bao buns themselves contain dairy.
