Make sure to specify VEGAN, not just „tofu“ - Edit
My friend and I both ordered number 20, the mango salad in the tofu version instead of the default meat variation.
Read moreWhile I specified that I‘d like mine to be vegan, my omni friend didn’t.
When they brought the meal, we did indeed have different sauces (mine was darker than theirs) on our salad and the friendly waitress stressed that the plate in front of me was the vegan one.
So while this restaurant clearly knows what vegan means, you have to actively ask for it, when altering a non-vegan dish. Just specifying „tofu variant please“ is not enough! Unfortunately they also don’t mark vegan options in their print menu as vegan. There is some note about vegan meat that one can use to substitute on the last pages of the menu but no dedicated dishes that are vegan by default.
Usually I wouldn’t frequent such a restaurant as I would always worry that they just replace the meat with seitan/tofu and keep the fish sauce, animal fat and dairy in the recipe. But they have two websites and the one ending in .net, where you can order delivery, makes ist very easy to find vegan variants, which made me assume that the restaurant would be as transparent when you go there. I am glad that I went there anyhow as it was really tasty. (I can highly recommend the homemade mango lemonade and the mango salad, the neighbouring table had different mock meats and seemed also quite happy.)
Hubertha folks, if you read this: Please make it easier to order definitely vegan choices! And thanks for the good meal and for providing a unisex toilet.
Pros: Seasonal homemade lemonades, Unique seasoning and dishes
Cons: Vegan needs to be specified to avoid fish sauce, Also in their print menu vegan options not marked
