closed for renovations - Edit
Last time I checked, the cafe was closed for renovations. A sign on the door directs you across the street to another location, which has no vegan options. Bummer, I was excited to try this place. This information was nowhere to be found online, so we found out after driving 20 minutes.

This dish was superb. I even believe this dish was completely Forks Over Knives approved.

Terrific vegan food - Edit
I can't say enough good things about the vegan options I've tried. Hubby and I are obsessed with the Moroccan cigar appetizer. I've had the babaganoush, hummus, vegan falafel pita entree, vegan Moroccan plate, vegan shawarma plate, vegan shawarma in laffa bread, smoothies, etc. Everything has been super flavorful, would get any of them again. Very friendly staff too. This is such a little hidden gem! We will keep going for sure.

Good Homestyle Ethnic Vegan Food - Edit
Comfortable restaurant without pretensions. Friendly and helpful staff. Several tasty vegan options on menu. The portions are very fair for the price. Will for-sure return.

vegan shawarma! - Edit
Kinneret has got few but great vegan dishes that I've never found anywhere else, like its shawarma plate--intriguingly-seasoned roast seitan, amid good baba ghanouj and hummus. Everything seems to come with their Israeli salad, a tangy and fresh little bowl of chopped cucumber, tomato, lemon juice, and olive oil. Also, I've enjoyed some tasty, greasy little cigar-shaped pastries filled with seitan "lamb" a few times.
Read moreFor a vegetarian, the place is wonderful: chicken-free matzoh ball soup, veg chicken caesar salad, many grilled vegetarian sandwiches, and all kinds of middle eastern items that rarely crop up in the U.S. (eggs fried into tomatoes, for example).
The place also offers the pleasant feeling of being in another (Mediterranean) country, due to its sweet, amateur decor, its schmoozy, bustling Israeli owner, and the fact that it fills up with Orthodox families at lunch.
My only reservation about Kinneret is that they seem to blow through servers quickly; I wonder how well they treat them.
Pros: tasty and original, transporting, family-owned
Cons: small portions
