Black garlic loft

We went to raw & cooked class in the new location in Wandsbek. We were excited about the course but it already started badly. The location was difficult to find, it's in a "backyard" close to the Keksfabrik. There was one sign with arrow which lead to another back door with 4 nameplates, none of which said Kurkuma or cooking school. Our closest guess was to try the one without any name but it turned out that the "black garlic loft" is apparently a snyonym for Kurkuma- cooking school. After the first obstacle and passing a gloomy stairwell we were greeting by a cooking assistant and received a name sticker. Unfortunately the assistant didn't lead us through the course, she cleaned the dishes and sold drinks to the participants. The course leader however preferred talking to one of the participants and so the course started with a 20 minute delay. Waiting for delayed participants is nice, but it should be something to which all participants that arrived on time have agreed to. Because the course started 20 mins later it also ended 20 min later. Even though it's Sunday, some people may have other appointments too.
The course itself was also different than we expected. There was no itinerary or so, it started with a small introduction round of all the participants, which we appreciated. However then the course leader started talking and explaining how some of the ingredients work etc. and also prepared a sour cream himself to show how it works. This part of explaining and demonstrating was way too long for us and to be honest on a Sunday afternoon, with a speaker, who has a monotonous and silent voice, frankly, just tiresome. After this very long part the participants were divided into groups and handed a recipe, that they would cook in their group. The teacher would check on the participant's work and support if necessary. So every group made one dish (we actually expected that everyone would cook by themselves, doing all dishes and therefor learning how to do all dishes). In the end we could eat everything that all groups made.
There were free samples of drinking powder to take home but also very overpriced equipment was offered to us to buy if interested.
In general we found the course a bit unstructured (or at least the scheduling should have been clearly shared with all of us from the start). We would possibly try a different course with another teacher and another concept. Cooking for everyone creates an unnecessary pressure to perform well.

Pros: Meeting other vegans, Tasty food, Explanation on ingredients, nutrional values etc.

Cons: lack of structure, no suitable explanation on how to find the school , Expensive ingredients used for cooking

Wonderful experience.

Great cooking school, the recipes are super tasty and there are so many different types of courses available. I've did already two and I'm going on a third one soon 👍

Pros: Lots of courses to choose from.

Great vegan cooking classes!

We did a Mexican cooking class, which was amazing. Small group, gorgeous kitchen interior and a great variety of food. Everyone cooked a few dishes and then the whole group would come together at the end to eat, drink and get to know each other a bit. Plus everyone got to take home all of the recipes, which was great!

Pros: Tolles Essen, Tolle Location, Große Kurswauswahl
