Western Comfort Choices

LINIO is a cozy, laid back cafe close to Akebonobashi Station. They serve up a variety of vegetarian and vegan friendly dishes that are clearly marked on their menu.

Coming in on a weeknight, it wasn't busy at all and made for a calm dining experience in the heart of a busy area.

We tried their Hishio Seasonal Vegetables and Soy Milk Gratin (both about ¥1400), as well as their Vegetable Risotto (¥1430). All of our dishes were vegan which was so nice to see in Tokyo.

The seasonal vegetables were a delightful starter. Seasoned well, although a bit too salty for my taste. The gratin and risotto were delicious and creamy, packed with a lot of flavors and medley of seasonal veggies. My favorite of the night was definitely the risotto so I'd recommend that for sure.

A great place for plant-based diners but also for anyone looking to have a different meal than the usual take-out that Japanese convenience spots often offers.

Cozy (almost) vegan cafe

Was pleased to find an almost entirely vegan menu, though I do kind of wish they just removed the two non-vegan options from the menu and fully embraced plant-based cuisine. Everything we had was very good and beautifully presented, featuring a diverse selection of fresh vegetables. The chocolate cake was great too

Delicious

The food was exquisite, so many different and well seasoned dishes, friendly staffs, and they used products that they plant and also make it by themselves. Are super happy to explain all the processes if you are interested in knowing about it.
Would definitely come back.

Hidden gem

So pleased we found this restaurant! It was a lovely peaceful walk down through little residential streets away from the bustle of Shinjuku. We had the vegan gratin and the olive oil & garlic pasta followed by chocolate miso brownie desserts (all vegan). Restaurant feels personal and cosy and they sell some food and clothing. The food tasted really fresh and quality with thoughtful flavours. Friendly owners who obviously take pride in the food. Would recommend.

Pros: Plentiful vegan options , Quieter area away from crowded streets, Friendly staff

Great organic food

Very nice gluten free restaurant/cafe. Uses all organic ingredients and no additives. Although the place is not fully vegan, 80 % of the menu is vegan and all desserts and drinks are too. They brew their own kombucha too. Linio is located around 5 minutes from Akebonobashi station, atmosphere is clean and cozy and staff are attentive and nice

Food is quite healthy (and it is missing a bit of protein), but I still enjoyed my meal. I had the vegan omurice dish, as I always wanted to try one. I was very surprised to see that 80 % of their lunch menu is vegan, and was struggling to pick from the menu. Maybe in the future they will become 100 % vegan. Will try eating here at dinner time too sometimes, as they have nut roasts and more interesting items for their dinner menu.

Cons: Cash payments only, Could have more protein in their dishes, A bit pricey
