Deceptive advertising, unprofessional attitude - Edit
We went in because they advertised vegan barbecue. Sounds great, but then we found out there's meat in the sauce. The server suggested we have the barbecued tempeh *without* the sauce. No thanks: the sauce is half the point of barbecue.
Read moreOn our way towards the door we saw one of the cooks throw up his hands in frustration and exclaim "they can get it without the sauce!" Even if we were already gone, this behavior in front of the customers is unprofessional.
They've lost me as a customer, but suggestions for improvement include offering true vegan options, including sauce, and brush up on customer service skills. In fairness to them this was a few years ago and things could have improved since then, but as this review shows bad experiences taint future impressions.

Cons: No vegan sauce (what's the point of BBQ?), Public disparagement of customers

Not very vegan friendly…duh - Edit
All sandwiches, including the only vegan one, come with hush puppies and one side of your choosing.
Read moreThe hush puppies aren’t vegan and they won’t let you substitute something else.
The staff is NOT knowledgeable about what is and isn’t vegan. When we ordered the guy told us all the veggie sides are vegan. They are not & contain butter & who knows what else.
We came here with carnivorous family so we dealt with it but this place sucks for vegans. It’s a BBQ joint so I didn’t expect much but I’m confused about why they bother to offer “vegan” food when they clearly don’t understand what that word actually means.

Pretty good food, staff didn’t know what vegan meant - Edit
The food itself was pretty good! Granted, this is coming from a Bostonian, but the sauces were flavorful. They mark vegetarian but not vegan on the menu, so when I inquired which sides were vegan, staff didn’t know so I had to use this app as my guide. I ended up having the calico baked beans and the tempeh sandwich. The calico baked beans were pretty good! The tempeh sandwich needed more sauce but once I added more it was delightful. Their flagship bbq sauce is def my fav.
Read moreI wouldn’t go out of my way for this, but If you have non veg friends, it’s a good option. The staff were very nice, despite thinking Mac and cheese was vegan. It is NOT vegan.

There's meat in the sauce (according to WNCVegan's review in Nov/Dec 2022). Sad. 😒
