Champagne afternoon tea - Salon de Luxe - Edit
ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR experience. Genuinely 5 stars. Our family of 6 had the champagne afternoon tea to celebrate my 40th and it could NOT have been a more fitting or enjoyable experience. It might seem expensive (£50pp) but it is honestly EXTREMELY good value for money. We had a wonderful time. The vegan items were all a complete equal of the non vegan items which was lovely. Not an afterthought at all!
Read moreSurroundings are obviously beautiful and the service was absolutely impeccable. Unlimited drinks included so drank my weight in gorgeous coffee (after the really generous pour of champagne) and nothing makes me happier than coffee and cake so I was in heaven! Had americanos, and also had flat whites with oat milk and both were perfect.
The savoury items were incredibly flavoursome (the little dill creme fraiche potatoes were amazing!!😍) and the sweets were so imaginative and unusual. They also brought me an extra cake with a happy birthday message on it which was so lovely and unexpected!! I loved that they brought the savouries out first, then the scones, then the sweets, like separate courses. All with time to fully savour and enjoy before the next lot of food came out. It made it feel like a real experience and very relaxed. It meant we all enjoyed our time and conversation without finishing everything super quickly!
The scones were huge (2 per person! One plain and one fruit) and served with lovely crumbly shortbread. The jam was AMAZING and they even had coconut cream for us which was kind of like cream cheese but it worked so well with the scones!!
Tons of food, tons to drink, beautiful decor, excellent service - can't rate it highly enough and I'm really thankful for such a memorable birthday 🥰 I definitely recommend the experience!

We had vegan tea in the Salon du Lux which is an amazing experience to do once. The vegan items are average but it's great there is an option here. They were out of some items and just replaced with duplicates and/or didn't tell us about the replacement item.

Good tea and pastry but would not recommend the vegan scones. - Edit
We booked in for some tea and cake, and whilst the service, setting and tea was great we were let down by the vegan scones (the danish was great however!). The scone was warm but had the consistency of steamed a cake? It was so stoggy and dense and not bread like in the slightest. I have never eaten anything like it before. The 'cream' was coconut based cream cheese which had no sugar added into it - making it pretty savoury/sour. It didn't spread on the the scone very well and was quite waxy. What I don't understand is that vegan scones come out pretty much identical to a regular scones - if you just change two ingredients in a recipe - so not too sure why this tea room has tried to complicate things with such weird substitutions. They could be serving the best scones ever! I would avoid if you want a scone but has other options like a danish which we would have again! :-)

Stunning surroundings in the reconstructed tea rooms designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh an otherwise. We had the vegetarian afternoon tea, vegan version available. Excellent food and service.

Great tea time - Edit
They have a wide variety of different teas, the staff is very nice and they do offer at least 4 vegan sweet treats and 3 vegan savoury food options.
Read moreI had the vegan scones with cream and jam, whoch was very nice. It definitely hot the spot, although it was quite sweet.
I would definetely recommend having tea time here, but at least book a table the morning when you want to go.
