What's better than driving to Canada for the day, I'll tell you .. driving to Canada to eat vegan food. Ok ok, what's better than driving to Canada to eat vegan food, I'll tell you .. driving to Canada to eat vegan food while meeting new vegan friends! 🙌
Read moreWe decided to meet up at Mila Plant-Based, 100% vegan restaurant in the downtown area sort of right in-between Downtown Eastside, Science World, and Gastown. The restaurant has a lovely, quaint ambiance, feels very welcoming upon entering. The bathroom was .. well, posh! I don't normally make a point to comment on bathroom decor, while average in size, I felt like I was being upgraded to First Class lol. Ok, moving right along .. lol
They have two menus, a Weekend Brunch Menu and, for all other hours, a Lunch/Dinner Menu, ..we ordered from the Weekend Brunch Menu. I had the Bibimbap Bowl - rice bowl with Yo Egg, mushroom bacon, kimchi, tempura yam, cucumber, carrot, gochujang sauce. This bowl had many layers of unique flavors all married perfectly in every exquisite bite, I say this very sincerely! My wife ordered the Pina Colada Pancakes - pancakes, toasted coconut syrup, cashews, cocktail cherries, rum-candied pineapple, mint. Each bite easily lived up to the the decadence displayed in the included image.
We absolutely have to find our way back to Mila to try their Lunch/Dinner menu as it includes some amazing sounding options such as, Feta Stuffed Date - date, feta, pistachio, olive oil, maldon salt, ABURI LOX OSHI - carrot lox, aburi sauce, shiso, serrano, 6 pieces, Tuna Crispy Rice - watermelon akami tuna, sushi rice, lime kewpie mayo, green onion, sesame seeds, 3 pieces, and much more.
Our servers were super friendly and very attentive. We're planning a trip in the coming "days" and our server happened to be from the same area that we're ultimately heading at that time and was able to provide us with some tips and IG influencers to follow, very cool!
We had quite a few options to choose from regarding where to meet for brunch, with every option sounding wonderful in their own way. Ultimately, we decided on Mila because of their unique, fresh and inspiring sounding dishes and yeah, they did not disappoint.
Thanks so much for dropping by and reading this review. Do yourself a favor and extend the same courtesy to Mila by ... dropping by .. and enjoying some amazing tasty food. 🙌
Pros: eclectic menu, food has amazing flavor, food has clean ingredients

This place was excellent. We loved the vibe which was perfect for a dinner date. The service staff were so lovely and friendly. They were quick, helpful, and smiling. We ordered two starters and two mains, and enjoyed all of them. Definite must visit for a vegan/vegetarian in Vancouver

We got dan dan noodles, baos, and the peanut butter chocolate cake. Baos were excellent but the other two items were just OK. Looking forward to trying something new next time maybe I didn’t order the right things.

The food was ok. Nothing was very memorable, a couple of the dishes were not very good (we did not like the red curry dumplings).

Super good vegan fusion food - Edit
Cosy place with very friendly staff. 100% vegan. The menu is small but innovative, with inspiration from a number of different directions, with a focus on Asian kitchens. A little pricey, but once you taste the food, you won’t have any regrets.

Exceptional flavors! - Edit
Everything tasted amazing, service was fast and the portion sizes were spot on.
Read moreWe got the Mila Roll and Tuna Nigiri, both sushi rolls were amazing. The Dan Dan Noddles was just perfect, thick flavorful sauce, and yet dry enough to make it easy to eat. Gai Lan went perfectly in this. The crepe was again exceptionally good, cake-like almost, paired off perfectly with the coconut cream

Pretty good - Edit
Food was pretty good, just very expensive. We were the only ones in the resturant at the time, service was good and food came out fast. The drinks are very small, not worth the money.

Best spot in Vancouver - Edit
Spent a few days in Vancouver and MILA was our favorite! The space was cute and inviting and the food was spectacular. We split the MILA roll as an appetizer, then had an order of the kebab pita and the mushroom and sausage tagliatelle. They were both superb! We topped things off with a slice of the peanut butter cup pie and eton mess. Great service and overall wonderful experience.

Disappointed. Don't get ripped off by coming here. - Edit
I think they're trying too hard to veganize non-vegan recipes, and failing, rather than doing their own style of food.
Read moreWe had 6 items: WELLINGTON, CACIO E PEPE, TUNA CRISPY RICE, INARI, SMASHED POTATOES, PUMPKIN PIE.
Inari: OK, interesting smokey sauce and 'caviar', very expensive.
Tuna Crispy Rice: Probably the best item they have in terms of flavour, but extremely expensive for what you get.
Smashed Potatoes: Very bland, even with the dipping sauce. Had to add salt / pepper for SOME flavour.
Cacio e pepe: Basically cheesey pepper pasta. Too cheesey, lacking any other flavour. Reminds me of store-bought vegan mac&cheese, pretty terrible.
Wellington: Brussels sprouts were bland, the puree and sauce were meh, wellington itself was also meh. The flavours were just off and didn't compliment each other. Don't feel good after eating it.
Pumpkin Pie: Basically like frozen/refrigerated store-bought vegan pumpkin pie. They didn't even heat it up or anything. The crust, which is usually the best part, should be crispy/crunchy instead of a soggy/just-thawed. And they threw some weird candy that's sticky and chewy on top, which gets stuck in between your teeth and really made things worse than just leaving it out. $12 for a slice of this crap.
I shoulda got the hint when the waitress was incompetent at the start. I asked if they needed to write down our order before I go ahead, and said 'no, I'll remember it.' Then inputted our order wrong and another waitress had to fix it. Bruh moment.
You spend $80 and walk away unsatisfied and disappointed. This place sucks.
All these positive reviews are either fake or by people with REALLY low standards.
