Balls of thunder - Edit
Delicious rice balls filled with various fillings. Just come to the counter, ask politely for vegano option and go enjoy a tasty snack. It’s that simple.

A opportunity to eat the real thing. - Edit
In my humble opinion the majesty of Italy lies within the simplicity of its cuisine. With what little thay can do so much and the aranacini is a manifestation of this greatness. This aranacini, in particular the Etna, showcases the true depth of the sicilian soul, in Rome. Enjoy, buon appetito!

Pane e panelle - all day every day - Edit
Sick of paying tourist tax on all the food you buy? Get down to Mondo and be sure to fill you tummy with a Sicilian classic - pane e panelle. The pane is basically a bread roll and the panelle part is the chickpea fritter bit. Sounds bland, I know, but it's delicious!!! Get extra lemon and salt.
Read moreThere's a couple of arancina and pizza options, as well as ring doughnut and apple strudel. Then you can pop next door for the gelato 🤤
Pros: Pane e panelle!, Good price

Great little spot for quick service! - Edit
This place has a couple of vegan options for lunch and for dessert as well. They had little fried potato rice balls, as well as some flatbread style pizzas with various sauces and vegetables. For dessert they have a couple of vegan cakes and vegan donuts. The prices are fair.

Awesome arancini - Edit
Three tasty vegan options for the arancini, which are difficult to find otherwise. With two you have more than enough for a lunch

Perfect vegan lunch! - Edit
We could not recommend Mondo enough for a quick and easy vegan lunch. We enjoyed it so much we went there twice! There were 3 vegan arancini (we tried the spicy tomato and the vegetable which were both delicious), as well as tasty cold pasta salad (with avocado and chickpeas), multiple vegan sweet treats, and more! The staff were super helpful, we asked one lady what was vegan and she pointed out so many things across the whole counter! It’s also very affordable and you can eat there or order to takeaway. Definitely worth a visit for lunch!

Yum! - Edit
I really enjoyed the rice balls and a slice of pizza. (It was just crust with marinara but man was it delicious). I also ordered the Alice with just olive oil/salt but I wouldn’t recommend that one because it was pretty plain/bland. Also disclaimer for the spicy rice ball… it’s very spicy. I feel like can handle spice and I almost couldn’t finish it. They didn’t have the soy one but the one filled with veggies was amazing. Definitely would order that and the marinara pizza again! Also was super cheap and fast. Staff also speaks English.

Not my type of food - Edit
They only had 2 vegan deepfried riceballs. Me and my girlfriend had a really hard time getting through those (they didn't taste that good). One was with a small small amount of vegetables in the middle and one with a small small amount of bad tasting soy. The rest of the ball was just thick rice.

Not vegan friendly - Edit
Do not be fooled by the tag - this place had 2 deepfried balls which were pretty disgusting to get through.. One was with a small lump of vegetables in the middle, follow by a large amount of rice before the deepfried batter. The second one was a bunch of tasteless soy, deepfried in batter..

i had both kind of arancina, both delicious but prefer the mix vegetable one than the soya one. i went to the store on the west side of Tiber because the store on the east side ran out of vegan arancina. 2.5€each, pretty filling

Nice for snacks, small selection - Edit
If you are visiting the Vatican this place is a short walk from the Lepanto metro stop - so you could get off the metro, grab something takeaway here, and then walk to the Vatican. Perfect for waiting in potentially long lines.
Read moreThe pizza was pretty tasty, the Arancini with soy ragu was not my favourite - I think the other Arancini with mixed veg might have been yummier. Arancini is quite heavy food so some people might love it, others it might not quite be their taste... Up to you.
In other respects we weren't so impressed - everything was okay (staff, decor, atmosphere, cleanliness) but don't go expecting an amazing dining experience! Strictly quick and easy food!
Pros: Quick and affordable, Snack food for the go, Good pizza
Cons: Small selection, Arancini didn't impress.

I was an arancina virgin... - Edit
Tried this place because of it's proximity to the Vatican and I definitely don't regret it. Arancina are lovely- crispy lovely fried coating, amazing rice and soya-ragu filling. I now need to try the vegetable one. It's also very filling and cheap at only 2.50 euros each.

Amazing vegan friendly Sicilian food in Rome! - Edit
Found out about this place thanks to an Italian vegan Facebook page.
Read moreThey had two types of vegan arancini, one labeled Vegana that has soy ragu inside (delicious tomato sauce w/ soy protein), and they also let us know the mixed vegetable one was also vegan. Some of the pizza by the slice was already without cheese. I also noticed some soy nuggets and salads in the small refrigerator case near the entrance. But I was there for the rice balls, which were AMAZING, inexpensive and very filling! We also had a slice of pizza with the most amazing tomato sauce, peppers and eggplant. The flavors of the vegetables and sauce were incredible, rich and very fresh. This is probably the best food we had in Rome. I would absolutely make it a priority to eat there again if I am ever in Rome!
