Got the not a cheeseburger meal. Holy cow have they nailed the McDonalds experience. Granted it’s been years since I’ve had McDonalds, but it’s spot on. The fries are fantastic. The burger was tasty. We tried the nuggets too. Not my favorite nuggets on the market. The texture is pretty spot on for meat which kinda freaked me out😂

I was very much looking forward to this and it exceeded expectations! Fun venue with a mcchicken and cheeseburger that tastes exactly as I remember (validated by an Omni who still regulary eats McDonald’s). The “Big Mac” was still good but meh compared to those bomb other sandwiches

ok this place is 1. so cute 2. SO YUMMY 3. a little pricey — but worth every penny! I got a cheeseburger and chicken sandwich with nuggets and fries. if i could have this meal every day for the rest of my life i would! tastes similar to mcdonald's but so so sooo much better!

Sometimes you just crave the speed, comfort, and even taste of familiar fast food (at least I do!), and when that's the case Mr. Charlie's won't let you down. I haven't eaten the non-vegan stuff in decades, but it tasted identical to me. Loved it, and love that a place like this exists!

I went here with a non-vegan friend who had mcds a couple weeks before, and they said they could barely tell a difference. And as someone who hasn't had it in years, it's exactly as I remember it. Impressive!

This place absolutely understood the assignment. The vibe is exactly like how getting fast food at 10pm at night should be. The fries are identical, right down to the astronomical levels of salt. The Mr. Chuck burger tasted exactly the way it should. 10/10 will be returning.

I finally got to try Mr. Charlie’s! - Edit
The San Francisco location is right across the street from a McDonald’s. Made me very sad that there was only one other customer at Mr. Charlie’s, while McDs was packed. We tried an assortment items, since it was our first visit. The frowny meal was super fun. Very tasty french fries, regular cheeseburger, and their take on a quarter pounder with cheese. Not a fan of the nuggets, but the sweet & sour sauce is yummy.

They really nailed the aesthetic ✨️it even smells like a McD*nald's from the seasonings. Pricier, but higher quality and without the animal abuse so worth it to me. The batter fried nuggets and shoestring fries are fantastic. Great vegan breakfast options too.
Read moreWe got the Double and while good, was a goopy mess from the cheese. I would not recommend eating at location for any burger with cheese as it'll get all over your hands and unfortunately they don't have any wet wipes or a bathroom to clean your hands after.

This was the first thing I ate after landing in SF which might sway my opinion a little but everything was super satisfying. I ordered the "Not a cheeseburger" combo and despite never eating meat in my life, it tasted super meaty and everything had that greasy salty kick you expect from a fast food place. I'll go eat a salad now.

They are directly across the street from McDonalds which is kind of cute. I don’t think either is in danger of stealing the other’s cliental but a vegan can always dream!! Mr Royale was a good sandwich. I got the meal so it came also with chickn nuggets, french fries and a drink. Thoroughly enjoyable time.

I got the Mr. Chuck combo meal and was overall disappointed. The fries were extremely bland and the burger, while good, wasn’t anything to write home about. I’ve had better Big Mac knockoffs at other vegan joints. The place also felt a little too dirty. The trash was I we flowing and the tables needed wiped down.

I was a little too harsh on Mr. Charlie's in my initial review. After visiting a few times in the past few months, I definitely am a fan of this place. The vegan quarter pounders and double cheeseburgers keep bringing me back as they offer that taste of comfort and nostalgia that I used to have when eating McDonald's.
Read moreThey also seem to have expanded their menu to have breakfast options that you can order all day. I didn't care too much for their breakfast sausage / egg sandwich but it is nice to have it as an option.
My only qualms about this place:
- When you order fries or nuggets, you get the option of picking 2 dipping sauces but the containers are only 25% full which is usually not enough dipping sauce.
- The restaurant space is usually dirty and the staff hardly ever clean the tables or sweep the floors
- I asked for a water cup but the staff said they don't have any or offer any (this might be illegal?)
Pros: Quarter Pounder, Double Cheeseburger, Vegan Propoganda everywhere
Cons: Staff can clean the space more, No water cups???

I haven't eaten at Mcdonalds in 25+ years, but I do have great memories of happy meals with my grandmother, so this is the perfect way for some nostalgia! Double Cheeseburger with no onions and fries. Nice and basic, but hit the spot enough that I visited twice on my recent trip to San Francisco. Kids loved it too. Place was hopping which is great to see.
