Cool Coffee House

Cool coffee house, with very welcoming staff and good vegan options.

We visited for breakfast and ordered the mushrooms on toast and pea hummus, both with added feta, which were very flavoursome. I particularly liked the butternut squash puree in contrast with the garlic mushrooms.

Also ordered a vegan brownie that was excellent. Great coffee too.

Excellent vegan cakes

Called in for a quick bite on the go. They were selling 6 different types of cake, 3 of which were vegan. I opted for the biscoff and banana muffin which was delicious.

Pros: Plenty of vegan choice, Friendly staff

Pit stop

Another place I usually hit up when I’m in town. Really well made hot drinks, I had vegan hot chocolate today, no extra charge for oat milk. Loads of vegan cakes, and options on the menu for savoury good too.

Small menu with a variety of vegan options

Great environment, lovely staff and delicious but small menu... I've tried the mushroom on toast, the avocado on toast and the porridge - all great brunch options!
They also have a whole host of drinks that can be made vegan (oat milk) at no extra cost, some lovely teas and, for those with a sweet tooth, they often have a couple of sweets to choose from.
Bonus: they are dog friendly!

Pros: Dog friendly cafe with lovely staff, Variety of vegan options to eat, Nice mix of teas, rosebud is delicious

Cons: Can have a wait to get a table

Best coffee in town.

Finally got time to stop in here for breakfast and I was not disappointed. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Mrs Arthas has a great relaxed welcoming atmosphere.

The food arrived and the presentation was fantastic, very photo worthy. I’m so glad I made the time and effort to go as the food was amazing. The porridge was so filling and tasted great.

The husband had the brekkie and loved it. Good portions and delicious.

I will definitely be making a point of popping in for lunch sometime soon

Pros: Great environment , Friendly staff

Cons: Could do with more vegan options

Cozy cafe with good coffee and breakfast!

Cozy, little cafe/restaurant! Serves breakfast as well as lunch options vegan/vegetarian as well as non-veg. Clear labelled. For example toast with smashed avocado and beetroot hummus (8,50), bircher muesli (6), soup (5,50), buddha bowl (8,50), many different cakes. Coffee with milk alternatives. Tastes really good, lovely cups and plates. Can recommend!

nice but not awesome

Had the avocado on toast, minus the feta, no change in price 🤔 which I found odd
Also it was a bit bland!!!

Cappuccino was awesome with oat milk

Had banana cake and earl grey cake, both fab! But no more vegan options

Pros: coffee was nice, cake was great

Cons: EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!

Breakfast - not a full English

It's very quirky and hipster(?) but quality/value of food and coffee left me unimpressed.
Interesting old decor, furniture, crockery and cutlery. Staff were pleasant. Free water on the table a plus.
I really wanted a cooked breakfast but only vegan choices were porridge or avocado on toast. There were appealing choices for lunch but didn't fancy them for breakfast.
I opted for porridge made with oat milk with stewed apple, dates and nuts. It was OK but so dry! The nuts and stewed apple complimented the oats but why so dry?!
2 flat white coffees (small cups), a bacon sandwich (son is not vegan!), and small bowl of porridge came to £16.80!!! Not good value for money in my opinion.
I'd heard good things about this place and have wanted to try it many times before on other visits to Leeds.
Sadly, I won't be visiting again any time soon for breakfast. I think as a vegan the lunch time menu is probably more accommodating.

Pros: A couple of vegan options for breakfast and lunch.

Cons: Relatively expensive

coffee

Just stopped in for a coffee as I was heading for breakfast.
Hipster heaven with tattoos and beards in full attendance. Good selection of tea and coffee and you would not struggle for food.

Pros: plenty vegan, coffee

Surprise Surprise

...the unexpected hits you, between the eyes. This was an unanticipated find in a veg friendly part of leeds in very close proximity to Out of This World and Little Tokyo. Tea shop / coffee shop atmosphere, surprisingly busy inside, surprisingly busy outisde too. I can only vouch for the coffee. It's [censored] good. They also do a vegan chocolate cake. Unfortunately I did not try it. Lots of young people here, maybe they know something that we don't. It could be the soya lattes or the vegan sandwiches. That's the surprise you make, surprise surprise.

Pros: great coffee, vegan cakes, popular at weekends
