The restaurant seems to have earned quite a bit of hype, but I found the food to be rather „just okay“. The hummus was delicious, but the rest was just medium. Too few veggies, and too much substitute meats. The bell peppers were incredibly spicy, and the appetizer wasn't vegan-friendly. The ambiance is nice, with a pleasant interior, but the food itself was just okay.

Great ambiance, delicious food - Edit
Before going to the Elbphilharmonie we visited NENI. We didn’t make a reservation and were lucky to get a table but I’d recommend to reserve a table to avoid disappointment. The restaurant is nice and cozy, centrally located and has a great ambiance. Staff is very friendly and happy to give advice on dishes or drinks. We ordered the mezze trio and the king oyster shawarma to share. If we would have been more hungry and if we had more time, we probably would have ordered a hummus platter as well. We finished sharing the muscovado ice cream with tahini and caramelized pecans which was absolutely delicious. You can pop by at NENI for lunch and for dinner.

Best of Vegan Israel - Edit
NENI is a chain of Israeli restaurants all over Europe, this one is located in Hamburg‘s HafenCity. The place is quite crowded, so a reservation via the website proved helpful.

The service was nice and attentive, although we only ordered vegan the free starter was delivered non-vegan. Here a clearer communication would be helpful.

Not many vegan options for main dishes, in fact you need to specify vegan to avoid the egg in the sabich. Other than that, the food is awesome and the restaurant and the outdoor seating area are fantastic, but we ended up paying almost 30€ per person for a main and a beer.

Das Neni hat eine tolle Atmosphäre und viele außergewöhnliche Sachen. Da kann man auch gut mit nicht veganen Freunden hin wenn man mal was besonderes machen will und man selber findet auch richtig leckere Sachen. Vorher muss man aber reservieren, auch unter der Woche, da der Laden echt gut besucht ist.

Super chill and warm place with amazing surrounding hamburg Harbour area. Sit and talk, read the newspaper. Austrian Chef has the culinary vegan cuisine figured out, also with an oriental touch, very fresh.
