Not as good as expected but still worth it - Edit
The food was a little too salty but still very flavourful. The service was excellent.

Delicious date night small bites - Edit
Everything is served for the table small plate style and the ambiance is definitely more upscale but we didn’t feel out of place dressed casually. Everything was good, some of it great. We found the gyoza a bit oily and the bang bang broccoli more work to eat than it was worth. The tots were amazing, the rainbow roll was a standout, and the dumplings had fantastic flavor. Service was definitely more rushed than it should for the price as well.

Amazing sushi, great service - Edit
Visiting Chicago for a few days and Planta Queen is near where we’re staying so we grabbed a reservation for dinner - highly recommended because even on a Monday, it was slammed.
Read moreOn Mondays they have half price maki rolls, so we ordered one noodle dish and a bunch of sushi. The Dan Dan noodles were good but the sushi was amazing. The crispy rice roll is SO good, along with any of the ones with watermelon “tuna.”
Service was fantastic if not a bit slow… kitchen was backed up a bit but the ambiance was so nice we didn’t even mind sitting there longer than expected.
Would definitely return again! Best meal we had in Chicago so far.

Amazing Brunch!! - Edit
We loved our Sunday brunch at Planta Queen in Chicago. We sat outside on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The street is closed to traffic through October so that made it really pleasant.
Read moreWe shared all of our entrees so we could sample more food options. Our hands down favorites were the corn flake crusted French toast and the Truffle scramble. The scramble had the feel and taste of real scrambled eggs, but even better! It came with “buttered” Texas toast and sliced avocado. Each item was great on its own and even better when eaten together. The French toast was so decadent with raspberry compote and a dollop of cream on top. The cinnamon role was also amazing, but had a lot of nutmeg in the icing.
The only item we did not care for was the waffle. It was very chewy and lacked flavor.
Pros: Delicious brunch food, Wonderful service and atmosphere , Easy to share
Cons: Waffles chewy and lacked flavor

My ALL TIME favorite - Edit
Anytime I travel - if there’s a planta, I’ll be there. At planta queen Chicago, we went for maki Monday ($8 make rolls)! As a table we ordered basically everything lol.
Read moreThere wasn’t a single item that I thought was “just okay” (literally everything was amazing) but the real standout dishes were the baked crab roll, torched and pressed roll, bang bang broccoli, udon noodles, and chocolate brownie. Planta, PLEASE come to Dallas!! 🙏🏻🥺

That restaurant chain really is amazing. We just got one in LA and hopefully you get one in Dallas.

Great upscale option - Edit
Overall amazing dining experience. We walked in and got seated right away with no reservation. The waiters were attentive and food came out very quickly.
Read moreWe were warned that the Dandan noodles had Szechuan and would numb the mouth, but they were very good. The mouth experience is pretty intense, so be prepared.
Crab rolls were well balanced and refreshing.
The truffle mushroom udon was truly an interesting and great tasting dish that helped to calm the Szechuan.
Key lime pie had great flavor, but a grainy texture. If it were more smooth, it would have been 10/10.
Pros: High quality , Unique flavors , Great atmosphere

Delicious drinks and food - Edit
The star of the show was the ginger mocktail, highly recommended!
Read moreThe menu includes cocktail and a great variety of food options to pick from. We ordered the gyoza, dragon roll, cesar salad, dun dun noodles, bao buns, and jackfruit wings.
I dropped a star because the dun dun noodles are so flavorful, but have a mouth numbing effect so I probably wouldn’t order those again. The jackfruit wings still had a sore brine flavor, so I wouldn’t order that again either. Also, even with a reservation, my guests and I had to wait 30 minutes for our table. I’d recommend them giving tables a 90 minute minimum or something of that sort because there were so many people waiting to be seating, and there’s no chairs or real waiting area.
Back to the food.. we finished off our meal with a moist chocolate brownie topped with peanuts, chocolate, and coconut base vanilla ice cream that was rich and delicious.
This is a fine dining restaurant so it can be on the pricier side, but it’s a well-deserved treat and/or place to visit when celebrating a birthday or other important event.

This place leaves little to be desired, the ambiance, service and most of all the food is excellent. I have nothing but good things to say. The only issue is that there are too many menu items I want to try and too little time.

Great experience, but pricey - Edit
We loved Planta! Atmosphere was great and the presentation was very impressive. I thought that overall the food was very good. I wish it would have been a bit cheaper, but I was just happy to see so many non-vegans enjoying an all vegan restaurant!

Nope. - Edit
My family and I were truly disappointed in this menu and the flavors. We came on a Monday night with a reservation, but weren't seated until an hour after we got there. Our waitress was nice, but didn't communicate that our meal would be over an hour wait. When we finally received some of our dishes they were either bland, dry, oily, or simply had the oddest flavor pairings. The one item we did enjoy was a tiny sushi roll, but other than that this experience was dismal.

Greasy, flavorless food. - Edit
I can't believe this is the same restaurant all these previous reviews raved about. While the restaurant interior is beautiful and the service was friendly, this was the worst food I have had at a vegan restaurant ever, and I have eaten at well over 100 vegan restaurants! We had three different starters and two different mains. With the exception of the truffle fried rice, which was merely bland, every other starter and entree was bland and sat in a big puddle of red oil. I am not calling it chili oil because chili oil has flavor. The mapo mushroom dish was particularly awful. Chunks of unflavored soft tofu, still COLD, paired with minced mushrooms all drowned in a deep bath of red oil. The bland dessert cookie, though not overly sweet, was the least greasy dish of all. And quite expensive on top of everything.

Great - Edit
Great casual semi-upscale vegan options. The food was beautiful, but I question the value for the cost. I don’t mind spending extra for quality vegan food, but the cost felt a little bit excessive for what we received.
Read moreThe bang bang cauliflower was pretty good and my friend really loved the strawberry shortcake. I felt that the cauliflower tots could’ve been skipped, as well as the jackfruit bites. The Mezcal drink was a home run.

Great Atmosphere, Decent Food - Edit
We were fairly unimpressed with our trip to Planta Queen here in Chicago. I had been to their flagship location in Toronto and had an excellent meal, however, we felt the food was lacking flavor and overall was not as great as anticipated, especially for the hefty prices. The sushi definitely left something to be desired. Hopefully this location can improve to match the original location in TO.

Vegan at its best - Edit
This place truly has a vibe! I loved the atmosphere (kind of laid back while also being upscale) and my waitress couldn’t have been nicer. Service was excellent, the menu read so tempting that I had a hard time deciding. I went with the Chili Peanut Noodles, and this was probably one of the greatest dishes I ever had - so flavorful! They also have a lot of shareable options, so next time I am in town, I will make sure to go there as a group. Yes, it’s more on the pricey side of things, but for me, it was money very well spent!

Extremely rare 100% Plant Based yet somewhat upscale dining. - Edit
Vegan goodness at its finest….
Read moreParking - for those not a quick Uber away, there’s a garage next door as well as street parking (paid). I parked in a garage 3 blocks away for $10.
Restaurant - corner spot with a nice entryway and decor. The bar area is welcoming so much so that I’d be cool hitting it solo for a drink and dinner easily. My visit is on a Monday evening, reservation was at 6:00pm and when I arrived the restaurant was only at about 40% occupancy. At 7:00pm it was packed but still not loud.
The Food - Absolutely amazing and so good you’ll want to question whether it’s really vegan. The Bang Bang Broccoli is one of my absolute faves along with the spicy tuna roll. There’s plenty of good options to choose from including drinks (Kyu-KiKi is pretty good for those that like old fashions) and definitely save room for desserts (off menu).
Great spot for business dinner or date night while still comfortable enough for visiting solo. Will be coming back for sure.
Pros: Great energy , Tons of really good vegan options , Good drinks
Cons: Definitely expensive

First off, wait staff was phenomenal! Manager even came by and greeted me. Food is ALL vegan and incredibly fresh. I went little over board and tried so much on menu. WORTH IT! Cool thing, majority of their food is ment to share with two people; so if it’s just you yummy leftover if you haven’t gobbled it down. Haha. They had a lovely seasonal mock tail menus too. Will be going back and to other locations too!

Expectations Wildly Exceeded - Edit
My wife is vegan, so I brought her to Planta Queen on a dinner date recently. Even on a Sunday night, they were booked until 8:30, but we were hungry by 6:30, so we arrived ahead of the resy. They don’t reserve tables for walk-ins, so we grabbed a spot at the bar. The bartenders were friendly and helpful with recommendations. I started with a “Mez-cal Me Maybe,” which had a delicious balance of smoke and fruit. My wife had a “Lych, Please,” but that was a forgettable cocktail. To eat, we started with some spinach dumplings garnished with black beans that had a really lovely, briny quality. We continued with the Rainbow Roll, which was the standout dish among everything we ate. It was so flavorful and the texture was spot on for quality sushi, despite the dish having no fish. Amazingly, the Rainbow Roll was just as satiating as a standard seafood roll. We had a few more dishes, including the General D’s Cauliflower, Singapore Noodles, and Bang Bang Broccoli (our second favorite), and they were all great.
Read moreI’m so impressed with Planta Queen, I would put it above the Michelin Starred vegan restaurant Dirt Candy, in NYC. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere… the entire experience was better, at a fraction of the cost.
