Pretty much every other Sunday, I walk four miles to get a roti from Rainforest Creations at Ally Pally Farmers Market. I can only describe it as life-affirming, vegetable-based joy. Forget five-a-day, this is a week's worth of goodness in a wrap. The rotis remind me of a kind of ultra-thin and flaky peshwari naan and the fresh salads, tropical fruit and sprouted hummus they pile inside are just incredible. I'm addicted to falafel and burritos, but these are the best wraps in London town IMHO. If they have the mango banana cake, better grab that too.
If you're the sort of person to get excited about salad, this place is for you. Even the salad bowls are decoratively lined with cabbage leaves - cheering to look at while you wait! Choose a roti wrap (which is unfeasibly addictive in its own right) or salad box with satisfyingly textured fillings such as lentil burger, spinach flan, sprout ball, avocado, plantain, slaw, kale, quinoa, hot sauces, and the best hummus. Every mouthful is a fresh and different taste sensation. It's a delight to stuff your face on knowing it's all goodness.
I've been dreaming about returning since the first time I ate here and it was well worth the hour's walk from where I live. Even better would be a place like this for every vegan junk food outlet (much as I have time for those too) - I'd have it every day!
