Cosy café - Edit
We popped into here for a drink and a snack and it was very cosy and had a good atmosphere. Can imagine it gets busy quite quickly so check before you go as it’s very small and limited tables etc. The food we had was nice and there was a lot of choice for lunch / dinner.

Just the best vibes - Edit
Fully plant based, we were waited by the sweetest person who makes their own nutmeg syrup, cute crocheted vegetables line the walls and the miso mushrooms are just incredible!

Lovely cosy spot - Edit
Went in on a Saturday and it was packed! Had to wait on the bench before getting a table but the staff were super friendly and accommodating. I had the miso mushrooms and my partner the bhagi sarnie. I found the mushrooms to be good but was hoping for a bit more flavour/texture. I think if they put a few different types of mushroom in i.e. Enoki, oyster it would really elevate it to the next level. The sarnie was nice and the hot chocolate delicious.

Plant based cafe - Edit
Was great to find a plant based cafe, but unfortunately timing wasn't great. Went in for a soft drink to find they had sold out of soft drinks ! So asked for some tap water (which they do as bottle was on table from last people when we sat down) and a coffee and cake. Cake arrived, the coffee a good while later but no water so re asked, still didn't come, only once paying did the water arrive . Service was v poor, I realise places are busy, but 1st time in a coffee shop I've left to find a drink. shame as spoiled the experience of a plant based cafe.

Excellent brunch - Edit
Super friendly and welcoming place which uses organic ingredients. 'The Remedy' brunch was far better than the standard vegan full English you might get elsewhere.

Vegan diamond in York - Edit
The second we walked in we were greeted by Chris, who went through the menu to let us know what was suitable for my partner, and was happy to give us some background on where they source their coffee. Everything sounded great so we opted for the full Remedy Breakfast and the Chickpea Fritters (lunch). Coffees were delicious, and the food was gorgeous! Only thing I can note is the fritter could do with some oil/moisture to it (some blended mango pulp would help inside whilst elevating it). It's a small place so make sure you get in quick, cannot recommend enough!

It was our first time trying this vegan cafe and we loved it!
Read moreWe stopped here for brunch so they were busy, however we got a table. We waited over an hour for our food which was a shame but the staff reduced our bill which was nice of them!
I got the porridge with the seasonal toppings which were rhubarb, yoghurt and granola. The rhubarb was soft and worked really well with the sourness of the yoghurt!
My partner got the big breakfast which wasn’t that big. It had some homemade beans, bread, scrambled vegan eggs, spinach and mushrooms. It all tasted good but the portions were a little small.

Ethical modern vegan kitchen - Edit
Small cafe that feels ethical (including recycling and waste management) and modern. The sort of place where you want to eat everything on the menu. Once when I visited and it was rammed, they took my number and called me when there was a table.

Good honest food - Edit
I liked the atmosphere of this place and the staff was very friendly. The food itself was ok, not amazing. My favourite thing was the bread with cream cheese and the chocolate chip cookie. Also, if you go on Saturday be prepared to wait - 30 mins to piece the order plus another 30-40 to get it.

Nice - Edit
Our breakfasts were a bit different to the ordinary 'vegan full English', so that was nice. The atmosphere and feel of the place is lovely and the owner(?) was really nice and so friendly.
Read moreThe ethos of the cafe is superb. Zero waste, nothing to landfill, as Eco as it gets!
The only criticism is that the Remedy big breakfast arrived already cold. The flavours were great, the presentation awesome, but please, heat up the plates before serving. They were stone cold.
We were hoping for a great coffee (having read the reviews). We visited York for 2 nights, 3 days and didn't manage a decent coffee during our entire stay, so our criticism here isn't reserved just for this cafe. Is the coffee in York just weak or does everyone just prefer tea? 🙄
Support Remedy and give them a visit. They're doing a lot of really great things.
Pros: The flavours and quality of the food , The friendly service , How eco-friendly it is. It couldn't be better!
Cons: Cold plates, leads to cold food , Weak coffee

Exceptional - Edit
I went to remedy after following them on Instagram for a good period of time, and based on this it's safe to say my expectations were high.
Read moreAs soon as we turned up, we knew our expectations would be exceeded but not quite how much they would be.
Remedy is a very special place. From the food to the drinks to the hosting - I say hosting because Remedy isn't just a cafe where you turn up and someone takes your order.
The staff are all chatty, explaining the menu in depth, and are clearly passionate about what they're doing. This elevated remedy in my opinion to one of the best cafes I've ever visited.
The food was exquisite. It's so good we also returned the next day for breakfast so we could sample more of the menu.
Miso mushrooms, scrambled chickpeas, french toast, everything was impeccable and we can't wait to return.
Pros: Everything, Incredible hosts, Amazing menu
