Definitely tastes we'd never had before. Very interesting.

Tasty food & good vibes - Edit
We shared both vegan main dishes: makofo (cabbage) & mathapa (cassava leaves). We also had veggie samosas but I’m not sure if those were vegan. Everything was delicious and the staff were nice. The spicy sauce is especially good!

CASH ONLY!! Very cute place tucked away in the streets of Alfama. They don’t really speak English here…Spanish will work in a pinch though si hablas español :). There are 4 marked vegetarian options and 3/4 are vegan! Waiter immediately understood the dietary restriction. I ended up getting something with mushroom and eggplant. Very rich and flavorful, I don’t really like mushrooms so that’s my own fault haha but if you do you’d love the mushroom dish!! Friendly staff, would recommend

This is a wonderful family owned Mozambican restaurant! It's on a side street away from the tourist places. It offers two very delicious main courses suitable for vegans. There were other appetizers and sides suitable for both veg and vegan. We loved supporting this small restaurant! I've never had Mozambican food before and I'm already searching for a place at home in San Diego to have more. Definitely have the hot sauce with your food!!

Roda Viva really is a highlight, I was happy to discover the Moçambican cuisine like this! We went there with vegans and non vegans and all had a wonderful experience, so we went back the next day. The chef knows a lot about vegan and vegetarian food, as his grandmother had an allergy to meat and he was basically raised vegetarian. There are 2 vegan plates on the menu, both were absolutely delicious. The plates use coconut in a very different and equally delicious way than thai cuisine does.
