Wonderful Brazilian - Edit
Santa Cruz needed this - a change in our food scene that elevates the quality and diversity. Sampa came just in the right time to offer some amazing food that many can enjoy.
Read moreThey have a dedicated vegetarian section with a few items marked as vegan, making this an easier decision for plant-based diners. To have multiple options under one roof and have them be delicious is such a relief and so appreciated.
Crispy Maitakos ($18.50) - taking local organic maitake mushrooms and turning them into tacos was brilliant. Dish comes with four and the rice with vegan black beans were delicious and filling.
Vegan Feijoada ($18.95) - Absolute winner in my books for quality and quantity. This dish includes a large helping of black beans and vegan sausage, served with greens, rice, and farofa. Everything tasted fresh and it was enough for two people.
Recently, I also had their Açaí Bowl and was very impressed. Prob my favorite in town.
Service was also on point in making sure we were taken care of - with water refills and checking in every so often. The restaurant is well lit giving a very comfortable feel, and includes outdoor seating.
Private parking lot available which is another plus. Can't wait to come back to enjoy more of Sampa.
Pros: Great vegan Brazilian options

Give it a try - Edit
I was happy to finally try this location of Sampa Brazilian Kitchen. This location offers a sit down meal with table service vs. the snacks and counter order at their Woodhouse location.
Read moreThere are three vegan entrees to choose from. I selected the Vegan Feijoada. It had a large bowl of black beans with vegan sausage and was served with finely sliced sautéed collard greens (tasty but a little oilier than I would make), rice, farofa and a salsa type item (I don't recall its name). The serving was generous and I ended up bringing some of it home. While I enjoyed it, I think I'd try one of the other vegan items next time.
My friend and I also had the yuca fries, which were good. The waiter was great to mention that the sauce that comes with the fries is not vegan and he offered ketchup instead.
The server and bus person were very friendly and welcoming.
Pros: A few vegan options, Nice seating - indoor and out, Friendly staff
