Diner food - Edit
Old-school diner in a cool part of town. Seems to be popular for breakfast and brunch, but they also have some good vegan lunch options. The pancakes and the seitan cheese sandwich I had were very tasty.

Pancakes! - Edit
San Francisco is sadly lacking in vegan breakfast food and vegan diners. St Francis gives both. Pancakes, cheesy potatoes, burgers, Reuben, milkshakes. The diner interior is much as it was when it opened 100 years ago. We used to go more often when we lived in the neighborhood but now it’s more of a slog to get there so it’s a treat to go.
Read moreOn our last visit the food was delicious, despite taking ages to get to us. The only disappointment was they allowed the people in the booth shared with us to seat their dog at the table. I care about the dog, but surely don’t want it seated at my breakfast table.
Pros: Vegan pancakes!, Great ambiance , Friendly service
Cons: Dogs permitted at the table, Slowish service

Not too bad - Edit
I love that they have vegan options. I didn't care too much for the vegan mess. I thought they put way too much vegan cheese on it which I am not a huge fan of vegan cheese. But the vegan pancakes are great! And they have vegan milk shakes and a root beer float. So if you're into sweets they have some good options. They also have coffee with oat milk!

vegan brunch done right - Edit
St. Francis Fountain is a pretty solid brunch spot that has plenty of vegan options which is awesome. There was quite the line when I went there for brunch this afternoon & signed up on the clipboard outside. I was seated fairly soon though as I chose to sit on the counter.
Read moreThe vibe here is interesting as is pure hipster w/ a 1980s nostalgia meets a 1950s dinner. They even sell Alf & Garbage Pail Kid Trading cards along w/ Nerds & Twizzlers old school candy.
I have an appreciation for many of the counter culture scenes including the Beats of the 1950s, the hippies of the 1960s, & the punks of the 1970s along w/ the Grunge alternative scene of the 1990s yet never got into the hipster scene.
The vegan brunch here was great though. I went w/ the Devil Burger which is fully vegan as comes w/ lettuce, tomato, onion, & pickle on a sesame bun along w/ veganaise & a pile of marinated & grilled thinly sliced seitan. I added avocado & grilled onions. It comes w/ a choice of a side which I chose the fries.
I will be sure to be back to try a vegan version of the Nebulous Potato Thing. Despite not being into the hipster scene St. Francis Fountain does have plenty of vegan brunch options so recommend it for that alone.
FOMO
Whatevs, if you are a hipster vegan then this place is for you.

The “Vegan Mess” was SO GOOD. Simple decor but on theme with the old time-y ice cream parlor vibe. A decent amount of vegan options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner😄

Delicious vegan breakfast - Edit
It's so hard to find a vegan breakfast spot that makes you feel the way that diner breakfast did back in the day. This spot does it. Vegan options are so unxious, and mouth watering. It's craveable breakfast food that will have you coming back again and again. Vegan mess, and Vegan rancheros are to die for. Pancakes are full of cinnamon and magic dust. Other options available too! I'd give it 5 stars if I could.

I'm obsessed with the 'Vegan Mess' - Edit
I'd rate 5 stars if I could. They have many vegan options but I've only eaten a couple dishes because I liked what I got the first time so much. It has soyrizo, tofu, vegan cheese, guac, sourdough slices, salsa and spuds. It's so fricken good. It's the most expensive thing on the menu but I live a short walk away and I get it if I have a long day ahead of me and munch on it throughout the day.

My favorite place for vegan brunch - Edit
St. Francis is our go-to vegan brunch: both the sweet (pancakes) and savory (vegan mess, rancheros, devil burger) options are great. Also have vegan milkshakes for dessert.

Awesome pancakes! - Edit
They have a pancake combo and will sub tofu scramble in place of the eggs. Scramble is with rancheros or ginger peanut. Awesome deal for $13.50! The pancakes were spiced nicely and the fruit in the side was all fresh including the blueberries in the pancakes. The ambience is awesome too, a classic American diner with Americana everywhere on the walls, decor, etc. Great experience and worth the trip if you're traveling or in the mission area.

Great service and great food for vegans and non vegans. - Edit
I love this spot for brunch. I always go here with my non vegan friends so we can all enjoy our meal! The service is always good and the food is delicious. I order the tofu scramble with spinach, garlic, mushrooms and green onion with a flour tortilla. I also order their vegan banana walnut pancakes to share. They have vegan shakes and I get the one with fresh strawberries and it’s always a nice treat. It’s awesome that they carry soy creamer and vegan butter!

My Favorite Burger In the Whole World!! - Edit
I really mean it too!!! This burger - THE DEVIL BURGER - is out of this world! It is truly amazing! I love it! I can't say enough great things about it - the thin strips of seitan which are marinated just right - then grilled - it is amazing! And it's the perfect proportion of salad in the burger - the pickles - I love it all. I was a purist for a while - I never altered this burger - then the last time I went the waitress asked me if I wanted to add some fresh jalapeños and I said, sure, why not, right? And it was still amazing! I love this place - super generous portions - a real salad - They have loads of vegan stuff all over their menu - they label it all - great ambiance and staff too - I would have given them 5 stars - but I can't since they are not fully vegan - but I love them!!! I included a photo of my most recent devil burger under the pics.

variety of vegan options - Edit
This place is great. It has a variety of vegan options, we tried the pancakes (fantastic) the vegan rancheros (good) and will try the vegan Ruben next time. They can also make vegan milkshakes and sundaes. There is some meat offered on the menu but mostly it's vegetarian.

Vegan options at an old style diner - Edit
Much like it's sister restaurant on Valencia, Boogaloos, this is a hip busy breakfast spot with a few vegan options. I like the soy beef hash. The tofu scram is good too. Not as good as Weird Fish, but the portions are much bigger. It's a cool room too. They didn't try to remodel the place, just kept it looking '50s and awesome. Every time I've eaten here and Boogaloos the service has been outstanding as well. Oh, and if you aren't sure about something ASK! If you're vegan (I hope) you do that anyway, but as one reviewer already stated the potatoes are cooked in butter unless you get the soy beef hash.

Vegan Milk Shakes!!! - Edit
They have tasty vegan milk shakes!!!
Read moreThey have a few items that are vegan, but beware that they cook the home fries in butter. They say that the soy hash thingy is vegan, but I would ask if I went back again just to make sure. Also toast comes buttered, so even though I am vegan and said no dairy, they waitress forgot about the toast, but quickly got me new ones.
Pros: VEGAN MILK SHAKES
Cons: butterriffic
