"Vegetarian Tiger" operates several branches in Beijing - this one is in the Fortune Time building. Enter on West side of building under the clock; enter the bank building and take the escalator down to the basement. Serves Chinese style soups and dishes with mushrooms, tofu, mock meats, vegetables, and noodles. Everything is vegan except for the pastries. NOTE: Maybe closed November 2023 - please send updates to HappyCow. Open Mon-Sun 9:00am-9:00pm.

Incredible food - Edit
Probably the best food I had in Beijing but terrible service. Left waiting forever for rice to go along with my food, which was sat going cold. Staff nowhere to be seen. Also very difficult to find the first time

Fancier vegan dining in Beijing - Edit
Like others have mentioned, this is in the basement of the fortune time building! Go down the escalator, hang a 180, and it'll be off to your left (not the first couple restaurants you'll encounter)
Read moreStaff speaks English and was very helpful (they have us some free sweets after a very minor mishap that we didn't even notice)
This location does NOT appear to offer the lunch banquet offering mentioned at other suhu locations, but the menu offerings that we tried were all delicious and vegan!
Would recommend the spicy fried vegetables and the potato/mushroom pancake!
Pros: All options are vegan, Great options if you're into spices, English speaking staff
Cons: A bit pricey, No banquet option like other suhu locations

Beautiful food and great variety - Edit
This restaurant has a comforting feel. It is quiet. The menu is extensive and well illustrated. A little too much emphasis on sweet flavours but overall great variety and lovely presentation. Staff are very helpful in selecting the right number of dishes for the group.

Great Chinese vegan restaurant. Very much in business and open as of Aug 2018 - Edit
An excellent Beijing vegan meal on the basement level of an office building that it shares with 3 other restaurants. Look for the across the street from the Ritz Carlton Hotel. Open until 9p.

GREAT VEGAN - Edit
This is a Vegan Restaurant. directions as per other reviews but I should add that it is the building with the clock on it, the map shows the entrance on the east side, entrance is on west side of building. Wonderful food and great deserts!! Once you go down the escalator, there are 3 restaurants. it is the one that is in the far corner from the escalator, look for the books and and small Buddhist rosaries in the front door.

Super little spot hidden in an office basement - Edit
I could eat here every day... great variety, though as with many similar restaurants in Beijing, note that menu prices vary wildly. There are 10-20 RMB noodle and rice dishes in the back, while fancier 50-100 RMB creations take up most of the center part. From what I can tell, no English is spoken.
Read moreAlso note that this is in the Fortune Time building, and not the Resource building (where Starbucks is). I made this mistake and ended up in the corridors of the basement of the other... some very nice ladies were kind enough to get me sorted out though. The actual restaurant is in an odd little impromptu food court with a few other establishments, and the whole place is very busy.
Pros: Great traditional taste, Variety, Peaceful oasis
Cons: Tricky location, No English

Busy vegan restaurant - Edit
Huge selection of mostly Chinese vegan food on the menu and buffet. Lots of seating. Busy restaurant with great location across from the Confucius temple, and next to Lama temple. Worth a visit. Staff speaks very little English

My apologies - gave wrong location information here. Xu Xiang Zhai is across from the Confucius Temple. I have not been to this restaurant.

In the basement of Fortune Time building on the opposite side of the road from the Ritz Carlton this restaurant is on the basement along with a few other restaurant. Once you go doen the escalator turn left and the resturant is on your left side.
Read moreOrder some pumpkin in peanut, fake duck, sizzling steak and some lotus root accompnaied by a large pot of camomile tea. The menu is in English. Total bill for two was about 170 Yuan. Good value for the quantity of food.
Recommended if you are in the financial district.

Fun place - Edit
It is in the BASEMENT of the Fortune Time building (hence the B). It is right in the center and faintly says "Vegetarian Restaurant" in the glass. It is probably one of the less well-marked veg restaurant in China. Also, there are other restaurants around it.
Read moreYun Wei is in the moderate price range for vegetarian fare in Beijing. I had the best faux-steak meal I have had in all of China. The accompanying sauce was great, but the vegetable with it was overly bitter. I also enjoyed the very interesting crab cake which is only Y5 each. I also got cold noodles with a peanut sauce which was my favorite. The staff was very friendly.
Pros: friendly staff, great crisp steak bits
Cons: location, a bit pricier than some
