Tea and Scones!

Tried the vegan udon soup, spicy glass noodles with tofu (we removed the spiciness), vegan ginger scones, and some jasmine tea. I really recommend the scones! The glass noodles were delicious, and the soup was just okay.

Pros: Lots of tea options, Vegan scones

GET THE CHEESEBURGER

The vegan cheeseburger here was PHENOMENAL. So, so tasty -smoky, crispy, and fresh all at once. And all that from a beet-quinoa patty! Was very happy to try vertage cheese for the first time too. A hidden gem for vegans in penn quarter! #veganuary #Veganuary

Pros: Tasty, Reasonably priced, Variety

Genuinely unusual flavors

The black bean bento is genuinely unusual. Each component tastes different and not necessarily how I would expect. It's interesting. It's hard for me to say whether I like it or not, but I'm glad to be trying it.

The jasmine silver needle tea is excellent.

It's a counter-service restaurant, but on the nicer side for that category.

Mind blowing

Clearly labeled options, and the food is absolutely incredible. Not a ton of options, but the options they do have make it well worth the visit.

Flavourful vegan options

Very tasty vegan options at a great central location, with displayed allergan menu with ingredients. A good choice if you are in central DC.👍🏻

Decent food - Ask for the allergen menu!

The burger is very good - but so is the salad and the curry. Actual tragedy that they have never had a vegan dessert.

Good quality!

Pleasant atmosphere to enjoy food and drink. I ordered the bean cake bento box, but as it turns out, I'm not big on cold food (broccoli, spaghetti squash, the bean cakes were tasty enough to make up for the cold...) so I picked off my friends' plates. The tempura is amazing! Very crunchy. The rice and white sauce is great as well.

Delicious

You can get vegan bento box and a vegan cheeseburger, which is what I got. The bread was good and the cheese was interesting but not bad. The ginger scones were amazing. Overall a decent amount of choices and service is fast.

Pros: Labeled vegan

It was nice

Tried the bento box as well as the burger and the ginger scones.
Bento box was great (although I would like the sweet potato that came with it to be warm or at room temperature and not cold..) but I didn't fall for the burger! I would like some sauce to it and some avocado perhaps..also I would expect the bun - ciapata to be quite crunchy and not so soft
Scones were great, I had them with marmalade.

Love the scone!

Popped in here for tea and delighted to discover they had vegan ginger scones, you get two for $3 and it was DEELISH. Especially happy they had vegan butter and jam. Absolutely loved the way my tea was served and it was a great compliment!

Pros: Vegan butter!, Tea selection , Vegan scone

Great food & tea

Teaism is great for a quick, delicious, healthy meal. 100% recommend.

Since this a tea place, I was honestly surprised the food is so delicious! So many great flavors and textures. I particularly love the veggie kabobs, veggie burger, and the lentil soup. Obviously the tea menu is extensive and very good as well.

The best part is that each menu item is listed on a dietary chart which identifies all the vegan, vegetarian foods. The chart contains information for other diets also like gluten-free, allergies, etc.

Amazing food!

Delicious! We stopped by for a quick bite and it was amazing! We ordered the vegan cheeseburger and the veggie bento box. Both were scrumptious. The Boba Tea and Matcha were really good and adequately sweet. Will definitely recommend!

Pros: yummy vegetarian options, good teas

Yummy vegan options

The biggest reason to visit is the tea as first Teaism is a tea shop. But stay for the food. Among the vegan options, cabbage butts (sustainable), Indonesian greens, the vegan udon, and last night I tried the black bean bento box for the first time. I recommend doing tapas style: order a few small plates and include a coconut miso broth. If you're unsure about what in everything, ask to see the dietary info sheet: nuts, gluten, veggie v vegan ECT all explained.

Pros: Wonderful atmosphere, Downstairs coy pond, Good for large parties

fantastic!

This is such a cute little place! Great atmosphere. My mom got the vegan burger and she really liked it. I got the South Indian curry and it was delicious and had a lovely presentation. It's a fantastic post-museum stop and the food came out really quickly. If I lived here, I would go to this place all the time!

Pros: atmosphere, food, presentation

A Tea Shop with a Twist

We happened to come across this place after our visit to the Spy Museum and the National Archives. It's a casual place but with a large selection of delicious teas (the tea shop where you can purchase the teas is right next door) and delicious food. A nice selection of vegans and vegetarians with everything marked clearly on a separate vegan menu. We ordered the tempeh burger and one of the veggie bento bowl. Everything was fresh and tasty. Only complaint was that it took them quite long to get the food out. Good place to relax and take a load off.

Cons: slow service

Great little tea house cafe

Teaism is all over the District, but it is a positive semi-ubiquitous tea house because it has a menu that tells you (if you ask or go on-line) what is veg*n and if anything can be veganized!

The teas are splendidly refreshing on a hot day or warmly soothing on a cold day. The entrees range from a bento box to fabulously fresh and large sized portions of side entrees like seaweed salad, pumpkin, spinach and green beans. The large entrees or big dishes include tempeh scramble for brekkie or brunch, along with some delicious stir fries, rice soup and even a tempeh burger.

I love this little haven because it makes me feel secure that what I order is vegan. I also love being able to get a few sides to nibble on with tea! Though the portions are hearty!

Pros: Vegan menu markings available, Tea, Side dishes galore!

Cons: Mocha is only vegan dessert, Sorbet is vegan, but cookies not
