Soft opening

Another new corporate business, this time from Shinsegae.

This place is focused on showcasing their plant-based deli meats, so it's meant to be a deli. You can eat here or purchase deli meats to use at home.

The meats are all a ham or spam style, bologna, mortadella . Honestly I dont feel a huge difference between them.

They serve sandwiches, salads, desserts, and a few plant-milk drinks. Prices are low to medium. Portion sizes are a little small, but the price feels proportionate.

The food:
Sandwiches were a huge let down. The bread is very typical of a cheap bakery here, something between cardboard and a dense and dry sponge. This is a big problem for me personally. Also felt like the sandwiches were lacking in ingredients and was disproportionately bread, but if the bread were better maybe it would have been fine. For me the salads were surprisingly good, but theyre very small and pricey. A small bowl is 10,000. They have a lot of the meat and dressing so it would be nice if there were more veg and greens to bulk it up.

Theres a green tea and coconut milk drink. Both of these were nice and I especially enjoyed the coconut milk. The chocolate cake was dry but not too sweet. Macarons were so-so.

We also sampled the meat balls and that was probably the best thing we had so Im more curious to see what becomes of them.

Im glad this is an option in this area and I think it might be a hit with most people but some improvements need to be made for sure.

2022 11 UPDATE.

The better is not longer fully vegan, they are now offering dairy and eggs.

Good sandwiches

I tried the bagel with cream cheese, it was very good, but the bread was a bit dense. It could be better, but I liked the taste.
I also ordered the quinoa salad. Good but a little expensive for the ingredients and the proportion.
It's a vegan butcher shop in Seoul and it's great to see these businesses open up in Korea!
The staff was really friendly, specially one girl (:

Pros: 100 % vegan, Friendly staff

Cons: A bit pricey

not worth it

I wanted to give it one star but I can’t 😂 There’s nothing special about this place except it’s decorated very nicely and it’s got a cool theme. The “meat” all looks cool, but I don’t think it really tastes like meat.

For the salad, the menu prices are misleading as well as how it is displayed in the case. It doesn’t come out nicely, they just bring it out in the SMALLEST bowl with the dressing already soaked on. It was SO salty and I salt everything. I really like salt and it was just too much. It was way overpriced. 11,000won for nothing.

The sandwich was okay, but the bagel was stale and it didn’t have cream cheese on it as advertised. More like a slice cheese. All in all not worth 10,000won

The staff is friendly and helpful, but there’s like 6 or 7 of them and we were the only ones there on opening day at peak lunch time. Maybe make the prices lower and have less people there. That would be better. I want to support vegan businesses, but as this is run by Shinsegae I think they don’t really need my money, especially for what they offer. Perhaps I would buy some of the cold cuts by themselves.

This is also just a popup running until December.

TLDR; cool concept, bad execution

Cons: EXPENSIVE
